BLB Los Alamos Amigos
GM 1982-Present Brewmaster Champions - 1993 Import League Champions - 1993 Bock Division Champions - 1987, 1993, 1994, 2000, 2002
List is locked and loaded for the weekend. You guys enjoy, I'll be coaching and getting drunk. Hopefully a pickle tickle in there somewhere from the wife.................or a hooker.
These last two picks just about finish our impactful section of the draft. Really excited about the four guys that we're adding to the organization, especially when we were unable to move up in the draft to attempt our initial plan. I think plan B might have actually worked out better.
1.23 Dave Seibert - SS
Stud. Intangibles aren't the best but he does have high loyalty, low greed and he's very smart. OSA POT ratings at 5/6/5/5/6..my scout has him 6/5/6/5/6 with a 6/7/8/4 INF ratings. As an 18 year old with A&M he put up a .280/.393/.487/.880 OPS and this year as a 19 year old he followed his strong freshman campaign with a .311/.420/.482/.902 OPS.
When he joins the Reading Royals it will be as a shortstop. Jamie Gardner (last year's 2nd round pick out of high school will move to 2B.)
2.11 Dave Gurley - INF/OF
Tremendous amateur hitter. I have no idea what position he will play. But the bat will play and Gurley has the chance to be a dynamic option at the top of the lineup. His full season numbers this season of .358/.454/.517/.972, walking 31 times to K 25...and even blasting 7 HR...I think his 6'3 frame will allow for him to develop nicely.
When he joins the Reading Royals it will most likely be as a LF.
3.9 Erik Murray - 3B
Dark horse. My scout likes him way more than OSA, and combined with my scout liking him, his POT ratings line up with his numbers. My scout has him at 5/5/6/6/4 POT with 7 DEF at 3B. I like that he improved his OPS from .799 to .855 as well.
He will join our organization as a 3B.
3.16 Ron Kleinman - P
We held our breath for a while because there was a few pitchers that we wanted to get our hands on with one of these 3rd round picks... and Kleinman was definitely one of them. OSA has him at 6/6/5, my scout has him at 5/6/5 potential, he pitched quite well as a starter for the Y-D Sox going 3-0 with a 3.74 ERA, allowing 4 HR in 53 IP...as well as 65 K's.
I think his bread will be buttered as a reliever though, and that 6'7 220 height weight will make him an imposing threat on the mound.
We're happy to add him to Tom Bailey and Wilson Mercado as a nice core of BP arms for the future.
I had a baseball coach who would routinely come to practice drunk and abuse his son in front of the team.
Ahh memories....
I had a coach that started his son at third base regardless of the fact that his kid was the worst player on the team. One day at practice somebody hit a line drive right at him and broke his nose. He wasn't coordinated enough to get his glove up or get out of the way.
I guess it's the opposite situation. Kid had a great dad and the sport abused him. Sucks about that kid getting beat on though...
Got drafted to a premium league where I knew no one on the team. This was my first season not having at least one or two friends on the team. Our best player and only legit catcher, got promoted to a higher league after our first game. Another one of our better players' ego was so big he was the only kid in the entire league to use a wood bat. Combined with a drunk coach who was probably only a 60/40 shot of making it to practice.
Oh and we were called the Pirates. However a team with more financial backing went out and bought MLB Pitates hats and jerseys, so they got to be the Pirates.
Despite all of this I had one of my better seasons at the plate and we somehow were in a must win final to make the playoffs against a team we had already beat.... And then lost by one run.

I remember hitting a ball down the third base line and getting an in-the-park home run. If it wasnt for the fat kid playing in left, i never wouldve made it. I was the slowest runner on the team. That was my only career home run. Irony.
