  • I'm pretty happy a guy I considered at 2.10 is still there as my pick approaches in round 3. Just a couple more picks!

        • Not a whole lot of CFs in this draft.

I feel there isn't a lot of pitching. Only 15 of the first 60 picks and if my draft list is any indication that trend will continue.

Of my Top 50 remaining players, only nine are pitchers.

Totally agree. This is definitely a hitter friendly draft. I'm just saying its still gonna look like CF is a premium position in the BLB. Just not a lot of talent to go around.

I think there are going to be three routes to success in CF going forward, arguably the position most devoid of two-way talent:

                1. Getting an O'Hearn, Umrson, etc. by drafting high, making a big trade or forking over the cash when they are in their mid 30's in FA. These players are hard to get and are going to be very, very pricey when they are in their primes.

                2. Go defense - You can find guys to defend the position well fairly easy. Even right now in FA there are guys that will give you a 6-7 rating at the position and some with a little speed. They might hover around the .500 OPS mark, but because they defend the position well, they will probably at the very least hover around the .5-1.0 WAR mark for the season. That's not a great option, but you can usually find a bunch of guys for $280k to fill this role. This is probably the best option for a team without a legit CF talent, and a lot of fly ball pitchers/a large ball park.

                3. Go offense - In Toronto, Geoff Resinger might be the worst defensive CF starting in the BLB. However, his bat is so good, that in the past 170+ games, he has a 4.8 WAR at the position. You did this with Roman Chuts in 2018 and 2019. Not a great CF defender, but because he hit so well he posted a 4.4 WAR over the two seasons. This is probably the better option for a team without a legit CF, and a lot of ground ball pitchers/ a smaller ball park.

                ---

This is also likely the trend I'd recommend/I anticipate seeing at C and SS as well. The two-way talents are more rare than ever.

                • Nice pick Nemesis!

My scout LOVES O.P. Young's power potential. And even if he falls short, OSA and his stats are pretty encouraging.

                  • This league has too many a'holes in it.
The Dino's should have known I wanted to draft OP Young!

I really like Wade's ratings, stats and versatility.
He looks to be equally competent in the IF as OF and has good speed too.

                        • I had the wrong guy in the queue and thought pass erased his name... Oops!

If it's my mistake and can't be changed... live and learn I guess...

If it can be manually changed, then we were taking a flyer on CF Pat Saylor...

                          Sorry Matt!

                              • Breaking news in California...

The fans are starting to get pretty upset with Kodiak management. After letting Dusty Filar walk, and piecing together a roster that is playing sub 0.500 baseball, rumour has spread that the incompetent management team may have actually lost a draft pick today due to some idiot intern pressing the wrong button (a.k.a. not having any idea what the hell they are doing).

"Let's be honest", said superfan Kodiak Kris outside of the Kodiak draft party, "Drafting Saylor isn't much better than just punting that pick anyway!"

Shouts of "Kodiaks Suck!" could be heard inside and outside of the Kodiak draft party, and apparently owner Bob Prince Jr's 23 year-old trophy wife was leading the charge.

It's not looking good for the Kodiaks the remainder of the season...
