4-2 sim and still lost two games on my divisional lead. Funclown is taking advantage of the easier path the last month and a half of the season. Hats off they are playing lights out. Gonna be a tough week with 3 @ Mississipi and then 3 @ Pawtuckett. Silver lining is that we are 48-27 away from home and my SP especially loves the road.

Swept Syracuse this sim by outscoring them 28-1. We were successful because our SP was so good the BP only had to pitch 1.2 innings. Now fast forward to the three game series where we went 1-2 against N.O. We had 2 extra inning games where our only light out of the BP (Diaz) recorded a BS and a loss. We are 12th in the DL in BP ERA but are 2nd in starters ERA. Needless to say the BP has always been the problem and continues to be the most glaring hole on this team.

Manny Rivera has sights on Denver single season BB record.

Meanwhile, with 58 wins we just need a 3-win and 2-win sim to avoid our first 100-loss season. That's asking a lot from this team.

Just go 5-1 next week and then you don't have to worry about it during the final SIM. Problem solved.

9 one run games in September and I've won 6 of them.... not bad for the team with the worst BP in the IL. Should be a ride in the playoffs though.

Carolina Tobs- 3-3 this week (71-78 overall)

Decent week for us. We've really struggled on the road all season, but won 2/3 @ Morgantown before losing 2 @ California. Obviously we're not in the playoff hunt, but it has been encouraging to play better the past month and a half. Hopefully it'll be something to build on going into 1995.

                    The Good

-The lineup continued to do its thing, scoring 44 runs this week. Unfortunately we got shut out on back to back nights, but in the 3 games we won we scored 38 runs. That seems to be the way it goes for this team. Capable of scoring 10 with some regularity, but then nothing. We're 2nd in the IL in runs scored.

-Rod Phillips is still hitting well. After posting a 1.054 OPS in August, he's at .913 in September. It was a slow start for him, but he's one of the best catchers in the league. Al Hamilton picked it up this week, Dana Scott as well and pretty much everyone in the lineup. Our team went .308/.411/.480 this week.

                    The Bad

-My September callups in the bullpen have been pretty much disastrous. I wasn't expecting much, but I was hoping someone would come through and show something to earn a spot to start next season. Instead, Darrell Elkington and Doug Montgomery have gotten lit up, and look like AAA pitchers. Again, nothing surprising but still somewhat disappointing.

-We lost CF Pat Faulkner for 3-4 weeks with a torn hamstring. He'd come on strong after a terrible start and looks like he could be our everyday center fielder. That's two torn hamstrings in the past couple sims, after losing Alex Rivas on August 31.

                    What's Next

-We stay on the road for 3 at Philadelphia, hoping to play spoiler a little bit before coming home for 3 against the Playboys in a battle for draft position. I'm hoping for another .500 week.

Its almost comical. I'm also sure that the Kubota injury hit our moral big time:
