4-2 gets us back to .500. Back and forth we go. We need some momentum.

5-1 week at the AS break to get us to 57-30. We lead the Stout by 13 games and the IL by 1 over Baltimore. We're 2 games behind Maine for the best record in baseball.

Pale Ale candidate Brendan Lindsey has had a surreal first half. 10-1, 1.28 ERA 0.91 WHIP and 9.1 K/9. Robby English, at 25, is turning into the elite starter we drafted and an excellent complement to Lindsey. He's 9-4, with a 2.17 ERA 0.88 WHIP.

RJ Manning joins them on the IL squad. After sharing the closer duties with Edgar Fajardo, we've handed him the ball exclusively in the 9th. He's responded with 24 saves, 1.65 ERA 0.71 WHIP and 13.3 K/9. Fajardo did not make the team, but he's been stellar as a lefty complement and set-up guy - 1.54 ERA 0.93 WHIP and 12.8 K/9.

Adrian Pulido is a possible New Brew winner. Since joining the rotation permanently, he's gone 3-3 with a 2.78 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.

Allstars Colin Cash (.310 10 HR 49 RBI and 11 SB) and Jimmy Jones (.317 15 HR 40 RBI 11 RBI) have anchored an offense that has struggled at times.

We'll look for more offensively from Ian Reynolds and Dusty Simmons when they return from the DL.

C Danny Salcedo has played well, but still has room to improve this season in terms of his batting average.

This is definitely a team that could compete for a Brewmaster's. However, there is wiggle room on the roster.

I'd still like to move Tony Wences and we have a deep and versatile bullpen with some players (Gentner, Arciniega, Poe, Amaral) that could be moved in an effort to bring up a young arm of two.

Our OF is crowded and will only get worse, so we'll begin entertaining offers for pretty much any OF at the BLB level and in the minors. If you're interested in guys like Reynolds, Cash and Jones... I'm open to listening. I'm going to need to find room for Bryan, Garza, Godinez, Berry, and whoever else begins to break through.

In the Z and Jake files, I present the following:

1B/DH Manny Garcia has been in the minor leagues since he was 17-years-old when he debuted for the Peoria Roosters in 1989(!).

Finally, after 20 years taking a bus to games and hitting 14 home runs for Denver's AA Affiliate Oklahoma City 89'ers, he was promoted to the big show for the first time at age 36.

The former third round pick was 0-4 in his BLB debut striking out 3 times. Not exactly the kind of performance he wanted to showcase with his first swings. But then less than a week later, in the 7th inning with Erik Keifer on the mound, he swung hard at a 2-2 pitch and sent it deep into the night for his first BLB hit.

Three games later in Denver, he drove a 1-1 pitch over the wall for a 2-run shot giving Denver its first lead of the day and the eventual game-winning runs.

Welcome to the show Manny Garcia. I'm sure it's been worth the wait.

6-1 week. 5 All stars. Trying to close that gap on Syracuse. Rosema missed the first 3.5 weeks of the season and is playing out of his mind. I'm hoping this year is finally his breakout year. Arce has 8 complete games at the break.

Pawtucket 3-3 against two solid Ale clubs.

3B Travis Zuk back up from AAA and this time for good batted a nice .318. Kid reminds me of Travis Jimenez except with better overall defense. Former second rounder should prove useful for years to come.

Bullpen overall had a very solid first half. The two rule V players (Abrams & Davis) look like keepers and our two vets (Ramirez & Salazar) least attempted to keep us in games despite our morbid hitting display.

First half.....better then last year I guess. Looking at the farm right now thinking our offense starts looking a whole lot better in 2009. Pitching might take a bit longer. It will start to take shape.

I'm still marveling at how we have the #1 offense in the league without having any guys on the Top Players list.

I think 'Vodoo' eventually finds his way up there. The rest overall are solid hitters, but generally do one thing really well (Walks, SLG, Ave) Guys who hit for pure average rarely make it. Most are mashers (or suppose to be) on the list.

With the exception of Romariques and Mulcahy, every single one of your position players gets on base AND they have high batting averages. Looks more like a top to bottom effort.

That's how we've been able to score, by having a decent OBP. However, I've been relying on Cash and Jones to make every important hit and for Reynolds to hit a ton of HRs. I like your way better.

Jimmy Jones up to #2. It's safe to say he's resurrected his career in Vegas. Only 2 players for us on the list. Jones and Lindsey.

Yeah, I've been trying to eliminate "weak links" in my lineup as much as possible. Finally got there this year it looks like. And we have depth too.
