FYI - Draft utility is not setup with the right picks yet. I'll try to square all of that away this weekend or Monday. We'll probably aim to start drafting Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
We are drowning early. I completely forgot that I signed Bryant and he's just wasting away on our DFA. Not too mention our BP has lost pretty much every game so far.
Again, happy with what I'm seeing. The small things are the difference here. Hopefully, it will mean wins soon enough.
What hurt the most:
- 0-3 in one run games. I figured we would have our share of them this year. I just hope we win more than we lose. I know the offense isn't special so it's gonna be up and down in this area.
- Fitz going 8 complete, 3 runs (2 earned) and Lindsey going 7 innings, 2 earned runs and both taking the loss. That just hurts the heart right there. But we weren't getting that last year so those two are keeping us in games already.
- Bollati with some rough bad luck. He only lasted 3.1 innings giving up 6 runs (4 earned). Two errors from an otherwise very solid defensive team cost him a nice start. It's an improvement, and good sign, despite what the numbers tell you.
The good parts:
- Toiguichi likes Denver and wins a POW award too. When Z brought traded him he said he thought Toi would do well because Rocky Top is a right handed park.
However, I liked Toi because I felt the changes to Rocky Top to be more extra base hit friendly would benefit him the most. So far, we are both right and I will take that. (Still in love with that three team trade).
- Kel Brown woke up nicely. Probably had the best week in Denver since he was acquired mid last season.
- Extra base hits. It won't be a secret for long but people always seem to wonder what I'm doing. Well, one thing I noticed about myself - and my team - is it has many extra base hit hitters but yet they had played in a park not designed for their talents. This off season was designed around building a park that both fit my roster and my philosophy.
It may not make sense to you, but this past week in Denver was an example of what I'm hoping to achieve with this boring bunch.
Will it work? I don't know. But that's the fun in it for me.
- Being in games. We may be 5-7 but I already see an improvement in some areas. And the starting pitching was extremely solid (save Bollati) this week. Mueller is looking primed for being a solid pitcher and Troy Clark may be better than I expected.
Trends. Love 'em. Especially with LA. If there is a team on a losing streak, it ends when they play LA. If there is a pitcher on a bad run, he will shut us out. Hitters end their hitless games against us, religiously. For two seasons this has had me scratching my head. I'm done scratching my head. I will scratch players now and then I will move this team in hopes that the losing algorithm changes with the team move. It probably will not, but complacency is not in my DNA.

I tried to make as few moves as possible this year. Figured I'd go away from his trade like crazy model. That was a mistake. I will never doubt Funclown's genius ever again. Sad when a owner says that. You know he is at his wits end.
I'm a little confused by something. My number 1 setup guy has an ERA of 19.29. Is this bad? Is this bad?
I know it's early, but it's not going well for Colm Engle in his contract year. He needs to get his situation figured out fairly quickly or it will be time for a change of scenery.
