  • 1996 BLB Amateur Draft

The draft will start Wednesday, February 1stat 8a (EST).

Please look at the utility to make sure all traded picks are correct. NOTE: The correct order is reflected today in the utility. Draft order in game will be corrected before draft date.

Sandwich Round/Comp Pick policy is effect. The New Utility allows one supplemental round, so I had to force a B round in the utility. So, it actually goes like this IN THE UTILITY:

    Round 1
    Round 2
    Sandwich A
    Round 3
    Round 4 (Sandwich B)

All rounds from that point will appear off by one round.

Also, the game did not assign New Orleans a Type B that they should have received (that's why I tracked). N.O. will pick in the utility and I will have to assign him at the end of the draft manually.

Sandwich Rounds orders are as follows:

    Sandwich A
    1 Indianapolis Clowns
    2 Morgantown Mohawks
    3 Philadelphia Freedom
    4 New Orleans Dukes
    5 Los Lunas Javelinas
    6 Maine Guides
    7 Pittsburgh Millers
    8 Batavia Muckdogs
    9 Virginia Colonials
    10 Virginia Colonials

    Sandwich B
    1 Baltimore
    2 New Orleans

    Pick Time Limits:
    1st Round and 2nd Round: 4 hours
    Remaining Rounds: 2 hours

The draft clock runs between 8am and 10pm ET. The utility will autopick for you if you go over your time. Managers who go over their time limit will be placed on Autopick until they return. Please make use of the preference list to avoid going over the time limit.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to use the utility.

    Preference List Usage

    - To add players to your Preference List click the check box next to their name and click the 'Add to List' button. You can then move players up and down the list or remove them using the provided buttons.

    Team War Room

The Team War Room is available only to logged in users who are currently in control of a team as defined in the league file. From here, teams can review the available players, see what picks they’ve made and when their next ones are due, manage their draft list, configure their auto draft settings, and manually draft players if it is their turn to pick.

To add players to the draft list, click the check box next to their name, then click the Add To List button. You can add multiple players at once, and they are added in the order they appear on the page, not the order clicked. Use the up/down/remove buttons next to the draft list to manage the players once they’re on the list. The view button will take you to the HTML page of the highlighted player in the draft list.

There are three options under user preferences that GM’s should address:

Auto Draft From List: Checking this option tells the draft code to go ahead and pick the top player off your draft list should the draft come around to your pick. If you leave this box unchecked the draft will not auto select from your draft list even if it is your turn to pick.

Auto Draft…: Checking this check box tells the draft code to make an auto selection of your pick. If you have this box and the auto draft from list box checked, the draft code will first check your draft list for the first available player, and then auto your pick only if there are no available players left on your draft list. If this box is checked, but the auto draft from list box is not checked, your draft list will be ignored when the draft auto picks for your team.

…After Round: If you have the auto draft option checked, and entered a draft round number in this field, then the draft will wait until that round has completed before auto picking for your team. For example, a team may wish to make manual picks in their first three draft rounds, but auto pick the remaining 7 rounds of a 10 round draft. In that case, you would click the auto draft check box, and enter 3 in the draft round field. The utility will then auto select for you in rounds 4 and higher. If this field is
left blank and the auto draft box is checked, then all rounds will be auto drafted. If this field contains a number, but the auto draft box is not checked, then no auto picks will be made even after the round specified.
The save button will save both the draft list and the user preferences. You MUST click this button to save changes to your draft list.

If it is your team’s turn to pick in the draft, the “Add To List” button will be replaced by a button used to make a draft pick. In this case, check the box next to the player you wish to draft and click the button.

Remember to click 'Save' after you make any changes to your draft preferences or player preference list.

I've got three guys I'd be happy with at 5, so here's to hoping one of them gets there.

I see a couple of Internationals who could play in the BLB this season for some teams. Very interesting.

Sitting at pick 14 this year. I'm not used to having to wait to pick.

Trying to be realistic, there's a couple guys that I think could be around when I'm up that I'd be happy to have. If I'm lucky one of the guys at the top of my board will fall a bit.

I've also got pick 25, so hopefully I'll be able to land two solid pieces. If someone is looking to move down, I could be interested in that.

I'm pretty sure I know who I'm going to pick at #4. I've also got #21 and #28. There's an opportunity for us to get a lot of depth in this draft.

No talk of players? Taboo? My scout thinks Pantilimon is a future Hall of fame closer. Does that make him first round material?

                Personal preference really.

My thought is a closer in the first round is kind of a luxury (I took one last year @ 1.24) usually best for teams who are either already deep in the farm or already winning (not rebuilding).

NOW... that being said.... there's a difference between a CLOSER... and a guy who is being labeled a CLOSER/MR by OOTP. Two pitches and a stamina of 2... THAT is a Closer. 3 pitches and a 3/4 stamina.... that guy may very well be a Starter in a MR's body and worth a gamble in the 1st.

                Again... all personal preference.

Oh... and on your first question.... we tend to not talk specific players before the draft because we use Scouts and everyone's Scout is different. What you'll find is AFTER each pick, guys will chime in with their opinion on a player once he's off the board.

Its a pretty deep draft and no one wants their player to get snatched up.

But yes, Pantilimon looks like a good one.

Closers/RPs rarely go before the late first round.

Well I just went and made my list. I think I can get a big-time player at #8. Looking forward to getting this thing rolling.
