        Pawtucket (aka pacehorse) 3-3.

Normally the goal each week is 4-2, but right now just treading water until some key players return. Not a good time to be playing so-so ball.

Lol, Zach Ross is just brutal. Guess thats why we call these players "AAAA".

Forgot to mention : Lawrence knocked out of the AA playoffs 2-1.:(((((((((((((

          So a recap:

Both Denver affiliates in AA and A ball got their asses handed to them in the playoffs. I had hoped that Gerard would be at least rested for his start. He was not and it showed.

He is going back up to AAA at full rest and a pitch count. He is at 144 innings pitched this year. He threw 160 all three seasons previous combined. So, yeah, can't say I'm not a bit concerned considering he comes with a Fragile price tag. I'm not sure if OOTP even looks at these things, but rather be careful (of course, I implemented these rules for Jeremiah Gray and it still got me two major arm injuries and a ruined career, so does it even matter?)

Chad Sinclair wants to be your daddy. He is taking names in AAA and his power is maturing quickly. He's going to strike out A LOT. He doesn't have the best eye, but if he connects, he's hitting the ball hard.

Tufts is going to be a super-utility guy. I've been wanting one 4 like ever. OMG.

News at the parent club? Who cares.

Very depressing week. Eliminated from AA playoffs. 2-4 week in the bigs and my bullpen has decided to give up. I'll do a recap later. Too bummed right now.

Well...that didn't work. Not only did the pitching suck but when you bat .214 and score 19 runs (11 in one game) for the week bad things are gonna happen.

Oh well, we're spectators now. Time to sit back and relax and watch Pawtucket take another step back for the third year in a row.

We'll be holding a Theodore retirement/jersey burning ceremony in town square this Sunday as well.

                    Recap:

Maine is back. 3 games yielded 33 runs to them against our 11. Thank You for the trip to the maximum security prison shower room. If it weren't for Pawtucket coming to town this week would've looked really bad. Took two out of three from them to finish out the week. Strangely Harry Keppel was out of the lineup. I guess he just couldn't bear coming back home.

But on to the real news. There are some great things happening in Hyundai single A affilliate, the Rockville Redhawks. Their August was scalding, going 14-4 just to make the playoffs. Then they stun first round favorites, the Little Rock Bulls, taking 4 out of 5 during the series in dominant fashion. The sky is the limit for these youngsters.

Carolina Tobs- 4-2 this week (58-71 overall)

A surprising week for my team, as we managed to steal one from the mighty Colonials before coming home to sweep Morgantown. At 15-9, we've guaranteed that August will be the best month of the season for the Tobs.

                          The Good

-As odd as it is, the starting pitching carried us to the sweep of the Mohawks, and we weren't completely embarrassed at Virginia. Alex Rivas pitched his 3rd complete game since coming to Carolina, giving up 1 run on 7 hits and picking up the win. He doesn't get the hype that Donnie Greene does in Baltimore, but Rivas has been every bit as good since coming over from the DL, possibly better.

-After taking the first half of the season off, Rod Phillips has woken up and looks to be on pace for another quality season. Since the All-Star break he's hitting .315/.426/.519 and he carried the lineup this week as the other bats went cold.

                          The Bad

-Coming into this week, our offense had scored 100 runs in our previous 12 games. This week we scored 22 and the individual lines for everyone not named Phillips or Faulkner are pretty ugly. In the lone bright spot for the lineup, we managed to get to the Colonials' bullpen in game one, winning an 11-7 slugfest.

                          On The Farm

-AA Charleston swept Richmond in the opening round of the playoffs and are now one step closer to repeating as champions. 1993 4th round pick Vern Campbell, pitching 7.1 IP of shutout ball, striking out 6. He won 14 games at AA this season and looks to have a BLB future if he continues to progress.

                          What's Next

Carolina hits the road to take on Davenport for 3 before coming home for a 4 game series against the Bandits. We're out of the race, but it'd be nice to beat the division rivals. Prediction: 3-4

Baltimore Bulldogs (68-61 overall, 4 GB in Porter, 2 GB in wildcard)

What a terrible week. 2-4, including a losing series to the Bats, who took a 2-game lead in the race for the IL wildcard. The return of Marv Barnes from a broken foot, was rather anticlimactic. He definitely didn't really provide the added offensive punch that I expected. Plus, when you mix terrible home pitching at the Baby Porch, our results are never good.

                              The Good

-Always Patient: We hit .332 as a team last week, as eleven players hit over .300. Veteran infielder, Ivan Garcia has played particularly well, hitting .391 for the week with a .500 OBP. He chalked up 6 walks this week and he leads the IL in walks for the month of August, with 23.

-Do Moral Victories Count?: Although we still lost the series, the offense exploded for the highest 1-game run total in a 17-1 win over Los Alamos. In that game, Loren Wallace found his swing, at least temporarily, going 5 for 6 with 5 RBI raising his BA to .235, the worst of his career.

                              The Bad

                              -Pen Problems
: We lost two games after the 7th inning, which really isn't our MO. Cisco Sanchez, Deron Vaughn, and Hector Quintero gave up 17 ER in just under 10 innings of work. That is the biggest reason we went 2-4 for the week.

                              On The Farm

-The (AA) Camden Tigers were eliminated 2-1 in the Lautering Union Sweet Sixteen by the Mojave Mavericks. We did get decent performances by the two AA starters that are expected to someday make the jump to the BLB. Lonnie Fowler pitched 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, and 2 earned runs in a win. Recent AA callup, Derek Vluegel pitched 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 ER, but did walk 5 batters.

                              What's Next

                              The Gauntlet:
Next week we find ourselves facing the Porter leading Batavia Muckducks and the 2nd place, Philadelphia Freedom. We are 2-7 against Batavia this year and just 6-5 against the Freedom. I don't see us catching Batavia for the Porter, but with a little help from Virginia and Wilmington, we may still have a chance at the wildcard.
