The Ohio Valley Showboats deny reports that they had interest in recently traded WR Sammy Slade.

Kalter had to be added to make the salaries work. Phoenix's max room for a new player is $660,000. Sammy Slade's cap cost is $6.97 million. Kalter's is $7.34 million. Adding Gaylor gives Phoenix the backup to replace Kalter. Gaylor's cap cost is $540,000.

It hurts to trade Slade, but this offer was too good to pass up.

Sorry for not getting back to you Skerik.

It's ok - I was working from a disadvantage to begin with as I had no terrible $8M QB to offer you, signed through next season.

LOL @ this trade though - it really makes no sense. Who takes a $14M cap hit, spread into next season courtesy of Kalter's contract, to trade a great WR off their team? And you get one first rounder and nothing more than a 2nd next year, which is valued like a 3rd. And Phoenix strikes out to an 0-4 start, so of course they decide to make a run this year and trade for a 9th year wideout.

          Wow. Alrighty then.

The false denial of desire for something sought but not acquired; to denigrate and feign disdain for that which one could not attain.

                  Agreed

This isnt necessarily a trade just for this season.I predict 4 years of a stud, no, an absolute stud of a WR. Icing on the cake is he is a great KR. I struggle with the long fields all the time. If my average start postion improves, thats golden.

I cannot wait until the next game

IMO, you have to be crazy to trade a first rounder for anyone in their 9th year or later unless they are a QB.. Chances are you won't get but 2 or 3 years of top production from the guy and most of the time the draft will yield someone with similar skills so you can get 10-12 years of production from them rather than a couple.

This deal appears to be a case of one team selling high and another team having enough perceived demand for the traded players' services that they just threw all logic out the window.

It looks lopsided now, to me, but lets see how it plays out. If it works, there is no price that can be put on a World Championship.

I 100% agree. From what I have seen in this game, players decline/retire based on age, not on years in the league. With that said, I am no FOF guru. But I think Slade should be one of the leagues best receivers easily until 2014.

As far as the KR return capacity...I would say use with caution. If he got hurt on a KR, you might have a heart attack.

That is how I see it. If Slade takes that team to the promise land, I will probably kicking myself in the ass. His numbers this season are unreal, with a sub par offense around him.

I like this trade. No more Slade in the division and I think Portland didn't get much in return.

i love how everyone has a different take on this trade-either portland took a stupid cap hit, or phoenix overpayed for an old dude, or both teams blew it, or it's a good trade, etc. I'm with Skerik, kinda a dumb deal on both sides to me. Or at least weird. You'd only see this kind of trade in the UHL or fantasy leagues. But... what do i know. it's always great to see something happen that gets people talking.

After my start and Slade's last game, I thought I would like the naysayers to have a chance to rethink their positions.
