Wow, just a 1st rounder for all that? Hell, if someone posted they were looking for a deal like this, I would have been happy to oblige.

Two guys who are top rated guys at their position, plus two 3rd round picks. Wow. Wow.

      Wow.

      I can't stop saying wow.

I have reservations about this trade and have let it be known. There is no rule to say the trade won't go ahead but in my opinion it cheapens the league. This trade wouldn't go ahead in any other league I play in.

Forget the talent of the players, look at how much bonus port city have paid out. Ridiculous.

This is the 2nd Port City trade now that I've seen that I think is very bad. The first was the Port City/New Orleans debacle which I still think was ridiculous.

I mean I know that woopin' we put on Utah last week was bad, but crime is not the right path.

Considering the depth Bridge has at WR and the age of Collins, I am ok with that part of the deal. I can see the addition of the LB, that's still relatively feasible because of the contract situation these two players are in..

But the additional 3rd's are weird.

That said, I am ok with this. I think its a terrible deal (as far as value) for Bridge unless Utah just crashes and burns the rest of the year, but its an interesting speculative move.

Reminds me of the later years of Al Davis' tenure in Oakland.

Both of these owners are my real life friends and I understand where both of them are coming from.

On its face it looks like a bad trade by Port City. But given his cap situation and the fact that he doesn't have his own 1st next year it makes sense. He can't resign either player and would have had to franchise tag one and lose the other as a UFA. He is trying to win this year because New Orleans (who has his pick) is in his division. That being said he thinks acquiring a first is better long term and @ 0-3 he thinks there is a chance Utah's pick is top 10.

For Utah he is trying to win now while he still has Syron.

I agree... as a Raiders fan, it reminds me of Al Davis' later years also... when he fucking killed the Raiders. If this was the first really, really shitty deal Bridge was involved in, I wouldn't really think too much about it. But, it's the 2nd. It's like he is the go to guy to get something really, really, really cheap. Hell, I have a plot of land in the southern tip of Florida, prime real estate, only a million per acre. In cash, please. The deals are pretty much the same.

Well, that first deal was altered dramatically and the second time around it was a lot more reasonable, and it netted Bridge a QB that you could consider franchise caliber. Given the value of that I would say 3 1st's wasn't that bad of a deal.

With this one, if Syron ends up getting hurt or something, Utah loses 12 games, Bridge gets a top 5-10 pick out of it, suddenly its a fair deal..

I can understand the alarm though, because when it takes an unlikely event to make your deal look even, then it is probably a lopsided deal to begin with.

I don't think this is a *terribly* one sided deal, especially given how players seem to be valued in this league. I am surprised that players of this nature were available but not trade blocked (unless I just missed it?). Understand this could potentially hurt me and I am not up in arms about it.

The interesting point is... Does this give Utah enough to turn around their 0-3 season? Maybe. I think I could be convinced either way.

Another way to look at it too.. Bridge is going to have a shit ton of cap room and has a strong QB/WR/WR combo already on roster, even after this deal. I think essentially it ends up being a deal where he gets a 1st for the LB like he wanted in the first place, along with the 2 3rds he gave up. The WR is kind of superfluous in that he won't be missed from the roster and there is no way Bridge could have kept both guys after this season. That WR was leaving after this season no matter what anyway.

/trimmed for brevity: This deal seems at least fairly unfavorable for Port City. Port City's giving up two elite players, both of whom they could keep (or try to), in addition to using this year to try to win. And on top of that, they're giving up two future draft picks. That's a pretty heavy exchange for one pick, although we don't know how high it will be.

That said, I am ok with this. I think its a terrible deal (as far as value) for Bridge unless Utah just crashes and burns the rest of the year, but its an interesting speculative move.
I agree with what Julio has said here, and it's possible this bears out to be a Top 5 pick. It's also possible Utah wins 7-10 games and pays a pretty low price.

I'm not inclined to disallow deals on the basis that they're too bad or too good for somebody. That's very subjective territory, ultimately, and arguments have been presented for both sides. However, Bridge, given the feedback you've received from everybody: are you still sure?

So that explain why Rob, Bridge, Engelbert, and Killakernal all use the same computer and trip the forum detector.
