    Utah trades TE Dennis Hawley
Los Alamos trades this year's 2.18

    Thanks, nelmsm

Best of luck to Hawley. I think we are both hoping we don't regret this one.

Just what Cucumber needs is a run blocking TE behind him with some decent receiving skills.

Although, if I were to rate this trade right now, Utah is the winner. If Utah plays his cards right, he should be able to use this pick to get a player just as good as Hawley and have him on the roster for a long time.

I realized that he'll get a player for a longer term but I had two 2nd round picks and I'm short on cap space so really could probably only afford one. For that one I'll get a good run blocking tight end that can catch which makes McCumber that much more of a threat. If I can get 4 years out of Hawley I'll be satisfied as I've got to improve my blocking, especially with one of my starting guards retiring.

You keep saying this... But don't you have 40 million in space? I would not call that short. There are 4-5 teams in the league that are short, you actually have some room to do a few things.

Yes, I've got approximately that much cap room but I've got a long list of players who's contracts are up. Maybe it's just my inexperience but I think I'm going to be tight when it's all said and done.

Just my opinion but if you wanted them back, it would have been more prudent to re-sign them last season. Any players that are worth anything on your roster are going to cost big bucks this off-season.

yes one lession i learned my 1st off season i got raided, resign resign resign, you dont want your guys hitting the open market, guys with plenty of capr room will overpay just to keep a guy off the field. even tho they may not need somone at that postion. guys making "shadow offers" (big money but small bonus)

the other thing too is that resigning a player under contract clowers yoru cap number for the current year

just remember you can only resign with 1yr left on the current contract.

I actually usually raise the cap number of the current year when resigning, so that I can lower it for future years.

Back in my first or second year here, I realized during something like bowl week that my QB, LT, DE, and WR (all studs) were all due for FA. That was a big oops. I only got one of them back, because I franchised him.
