  • 55/55 QB Tim Hein moved to block

For immersion/cohesion reasons, this guy is probably going to stay on the bench all year unless Ellis Wynn starts sucking really badly really soon.

That could happen, or an injury, so Hein is still a valuable chip for me to hold. I don't consider Boone - for formations/conflict/being a rookie - an option for me this year barring emergency.

But for the right price, Hein could be had. He could certainly do better for a number of teams than what they currently have, and he has some gas in his tank, being just in his 8th year. He's also 2nd on Greta's list a couple weeks ago for Most Careful QBs in the league, so that's a plus. I think that refers to the Avoid Interceptions rating.

There is no rule in this league that disallows trades for recently signed unrestricted FAs? If not, I am sure going to have some fun next off-season. ;-)

Oops - if there is, I'm not aware. There's no rule like that in the NFL, right?

I am sure you are right that there is no rule in this league. But since there isn't, I am just putting everyone on notice that I will be trying to sign FAs next season and then try to trade a couple. Or maybe just one if he is a really good one. ;-)

Many (most?) FOF leagues do have a rule against it (if you sign an UFA, he has to stay on your roster for at least a season before you can trade him). I was in a league at one point that did not have the rule and purposefully went after the best RB in the league during FA with the intention to trade him. I was met with a reaction of shock and horror by most people in the league and was even threatened at one point. I withdrew the offer and left the league shortly after.

So... now that I know there is no rule... I just wanted to throw a warning out there. ;-)

Hm - maybe it should be a rule. Thoughts?

It really does not matter to me either way, as long as no one gets on their high horse if someone does as I outlined above.

I will say that even if there is a rule, people find ways around it. I am in another league where someone is unofficially tanking. This one year, no trade rule exists. So he got around it by signing one of the top RBs, keeping him for one year, then immediately trading him as soon as it was legal. To me it was pretty clear he only signed him to trade him later.

Lol, there has been a lot of coaching turnover here. But I must say that the core coaches here are very solid. The only known rule violation was by yours truly on a brain fart. My thoughts are to not make up a bunch of new rules when we have a very good group of coaches. It should be enough to be aware of what could happen and I am sure we will steer clear up such a mess.

Let me try to interpret what you said. So you are saying that there is no rule and there should be no rule. However, we should all stay away from doing this in "the spirit of the game"?

If the latter is your interpretation, then would trading Heim fall into that category?

If not, where do you draw the line? If someone trades two players like this in one season? If they sign someone that is 70+ rated and trade them? Is it a dollar amount for the contract? Just because they talked about doing it before they actually went out and did the deed?

Inquiring minds want to know (probably so they can tip-toe the line without crossing it ;-) ).

Well I guess maybe the commish should poll us to see if we need the rule.
