  • Maurice Reader - I want to move him. Today.

    Guys,

I have gotten a lot of offers on Reader, but none have quite done it for me. This guy is a 60/60 WR with good all around skills, is the 9th best WR in the OSFL, is a mentor, and is only a 6 year vet. He has a good 3 or 4 years in him before he starts declining, so he is pretty freaking valuable in my opinion.

I want to move him before preseason starts so I can get my lineup set and not make changes once it begins. I've told a lot of you this, but I want a first round pick for Reader.

That's what it's going to take. No more bullshitting and offering/counter-offering. It's going to take a first round pick for me to move Reader, so if you want him you know what to do. I'll even throw in a 4th round pick in the 07 draft with Reader.

1st Rounder for a 60/60 WR!?!?!?!? Wow! You need Matt Millen's Cell number.

    Too many rings to count.

Read his info. I'm not giving up a top 10 WR for anything less.

You think someone like Roy Williams in the NFL would go for under a 1st round pick? Chad Johnson? Marvin Harrison? Guys that are in the top 10 in the NFL would not get traded for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I'm going off the overall skill level in our league. He's the 9th best WR in the entire OSFL.

Terrell Owens didn't fetch a 1st rounder when the Niners traded him a few years ago. I believe they got a 5th, and DE Brandon Whiting. I'm not saying that Reader isn't worth more, but a 1st rounder is a little steep. As for my team's position, we're likely to struggle this year, so my first rounder holds great value. Much more than a 60/60 6th year WR.

Fair enough. I'm expecting the only people who would pay a 1st for him is a team that knows they are a top contender and who could use a good WR to solidify that.

          I suppose, if it's from a lower-level team, I would take a 2nd rounder for him.

Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James weren't being traded for first round picks just a few years ago.

I think your asking price is too high as well.

In his defense, there's no harm in starting with a high asking price. If nobody bites, then he can adjust.

Bingo! Name the last NFL player traded straight up for a 1st Round pick.

Understandable, but he made it very clear that that was the asking price and "No more bullshitting and offering/counter-offering." Totally understand the jumping off point philosophy, but I don't think that's what's at play here.

Well, I already changed and said a 2nd might be okay, so apparently I wasn't as cut and dry as I even thought in the first post.

Plus, have you people not played this game very much?

Unless you have a top 5 or 10 pick, you aren't going to get a player anywhere NEAR Reader's caliber. You might get someone with a 30/75, but once you drop inot around pick 20 or 25 you will be lucky to get a guy with 65 potential.

Also, just edited the original post. Offering a pick with Reader.

Worst offense in the league, so you are ditching on your WR?

He wants too much money. He'll be ready to retire by the time I get a good QB in place and somewhat developed. I want more draft picks.

Seems pretty simple. The offense will suck ass with or without him.
