  • North Liberty Enforcers

The more things change, the more they stay the same. North Liberty announced a new logo for the upcoming season and a new helmet, as well as a new "old" owner.

"We'll be using red as our primary color on the helmet. It has been a secondary color and featured mainly as a border on our team pages in the database, but the NC North is looking a bit dark and forboding getting into your skull like that, and so we thought we needed an identity that seperated us from the pack" G.M. "Hoosier" Owens.

The new logo is a homage to the old one, and still features the Enforcer Fist prominently, but instead of emerging from an omniscient eye, the Enforcer Fist is surrounded by a handcuff.

"I felt it important to pay homage to the original founder of North Liberty and yet still move the team forward. I like the look, and the color scheme." Hoosier Owens, yet again.

Uniforms will be unveiled tomorrow in another press conference.

          Hoosier's Assessment: Enforcers!
The former g.m. did a nice job of laying a solid foundation. There is a future here with the young guys on the roster, and with some patience and the help of the Stelmack Draft Utility (highly recommended), the next few drafts could help solidify New Liberty's emergence as a young power. Since discovering the utility, my drafts have been off the chart, and one thing I have learned from the FOF forums, combines combines combines. I still don't understand half of what they say on that forum, but...I'm a different type of learner.

          Back to the Enforcers.

          Coaching Staff

          Dean Edwards, Head Coach.

Inexperienced coaches are a challenge and I like a veteran head coach. Three years from coaching Boise Tech to an OSFL Collegiate championship, he's managed to get the Enforcers into the playoffs as a Wild Card, but still hasn't managed a winning record...yet. He'll be on a short leash. Edwards was one of those, holy crap, it's Staff Stage 3, and I've been rebuffed at every stage, and I've gotta find someone decent hires.

          K.C. Brandon, Defensive Coordinator

It's ironic that I inherited Coach Brandon, since I hired him for Phoenix way back in the 2007 season. Coaching the linebackers is his weakest area, but that's still good. A solid coach.

          Eddie McClellan, Offensive Coordinator.
Okay, this is getting weird. McClellan was another coach I hired for the Phoenix Riders back in 2007, and irony has run amok. The veteran o.c. will be with us for many, many years. He's excellent.

          Alex Mussorgsky, Lead Scout.
Very good with young players, that's always a plus. Solid in most areas.

          Staff Overview:
I like the previous G.M.'s hires here, and that's not because two of them are from a staff I assembled in 2007 for Phoenix. Solid group with veterans at three key spots. The only weak link is the head coach, which is my only contribution to the team.

          G.M. David "Hoosier" Owens.
I've been working on building several teams through the draft, and in the Imperial, Dynasty, and the House League, the teams are finally gelling and moving in the right direction. I haven't recaptured the magic of the now defunct UFL with the Chicago Bliz where we won one Commisioner's Cup and had three Conference Championship appearances, but I'm getting there. It takes time building through the draft, and you've got to be patient. It's no secret I like the smashmouth offense, but I do use a West Coast Offense when the running backs fumble too much.
Defensively I like the Cover two approach, and I've got a handle on defensive gameplanning, especially in the red zone. It's working well in the other leagues. Very well.
I've been here in the OSFL before, in fact was one of the original owners. I had wanted a Fort Wayne team, still do, but since the league was heavy on midwest teams, I compromised with the Phoenix Riders. Couldn't get behind the Phoenix team, and I left. Rejoined to take over the Boston team, but left again. I'm a Colts fan and by god, it felt like I was cheating by taking on a New England team.
I'm excited about North Liberty. I liked the old graphics, and love the new graphics. It's in Big 10 country, Iowa, right on the border with Illinois, and that's good enough for this midwestern man. If I knew they were in Iowa before I rebranded them, I would have made them the Iowa Barnstormers. I wonder what Tarc would think of me owning an Iowa team? Hmmmmm... Good to be back. I'm excited about the North Liberty, Iowa, Enforcers. Much more than with Boston.

Team Overview: North Liberty Enforcers are the youngest team in the OSFL. Period. Exclamation Point. Add in the fact that they were the NC North's Division Champs last season, and you have to think the Enforcers are on their way to a very bright future. Elprez has done a solid, solid job putting key elements in place, and he's to be commended. I've taken over a few rebuilding projects before in other leagues, but the young ones on the roster now are pretty impressive.

          Offensive Line:

Center Joey Newman Anchors The Enforcers Line

Let's begin upfront, where it all begins. This unit is young, but could be spectacular. I'm going to have to find a mentor or two to help the young team develop, but damn the future is bright here. Kudos to the former G.M.

I've made some position changes to better utilize the players on roster and they appear here:

So, at center will be fourth year wonder Joey Newman, left guard Louie "Louie" Benny, another fourth year veteran; moving from tackle to right guard third year dude Donald Justus (who took a hit on actual ratings, but improved nicely on future ratings with the switch); left tackle Lawrence Green, and, dare I say it, another fourth year o lineman (must have been some draft that year); and at right tackle and second year pro Sedrick Shephard.

Depth will have to be addressed, and like I said before, it may be wise to draft a few o line mentors. But dang, this is a very very promising offensive line.

          Quarterbacks

Can Enforcer's Myron Allen Lead North Liberty To A Second Straight NC North Title?

Twelfth year legendary Enforcer Myron Allen was resigned to a contract extension. His timing sucks, but that doesn't really seem to bother him. He's a member of two Two Mile Clubs, and was an All League 2nd Team QB in 2009, and he looks like he could handle the short passing game with the new patch. His qb rating needs to improve, and his interception numbers have to drop, but I think he could finish with his better years ahead. Mentor, idolized, good personality view ratings, what's not to like?

Second year pro Pat McGinn was sent to Summer League for an assesment, but I'm not sold on him as a backup or a long term project. His personality view doesn't translate well to me, and his bars in read defense, two minute offense, and kick holding suck. Second round pick as a long term backup would be expensive, so he may not last. Expect to see him on the trade forums next year.

Third string qb and perennial clipbord holder Deion Samuelson has some solid bars, but where he doesn't have them, they don't exist. Our second Beaver from Oregon State, I really don't ...care about him. LOL.

We'll have to start looking for the heir apparent, but it won't be this season. I think Allen has a few years left, and right now we need to find a young defensive backfield for this team to improve defensively. That's a much more glaring need. That, and a running back. We're set at quarterback.

          Running Backs:

Well, let's be honest. We only have one running back on roster, no fullbacks, so we're desperate. Look for this to be addressed should one of three running backs fall to us in the draft.

          Wide Recieving/Tight End Corp

Tenth year vetean and three time All OSFL Tight End Johnny May and underrated and undervalued six year pro Chris Gaines give me the second best one two punch at the position in any league. Only the Imperial League's Los Angeles Matadors have a better tight end combination, and we're unbeaten in that league. Nice. Wideouts Adrian Grier, receivers leader, and Korey Wiggins are the only two left on the roster. Given how deep this draft is at wideout, I think we can add depth even as late as the third and fourth rounds. A good core to the wide recieving corp.

Defense: defensively North Liberty doesn't look bad at all. A quick look at stats last season and the Enforcers look to have been challenged by a negative ten turnover margin. The offense just turned the ball over way too many times, putting the defense behind the eight ball..a lot. Take care of the turnovers, and the defense should improve.

          Defensive Line.

DE Junior Bell Leads A Defensive Rebuilding Project

Left defensive end Junior "Ring Your" Bell, a sixth year pro, is the best player by far. Unfortunately for Bell, the right side defensive end is AWOL. A rookie pickup there would help. Defensive Tackles Hetrick and Mueller are serviceable.

Defensive Backfield: Okay, let's face it. This is the achille's heel for the team. There aren't any playmakers here, and there just aren't enough draft picks in this draft to fill the holes. May take a few seasons, but we'll start plugging this hole in the wall.

          Special Teams
We have an All OSFL Kicker in J.J. Peterson, but we don't have a punter. Hmmm..how do we fix that?

          Tomorrow: The Draft.

North Liberty at the 2047 Season Break

The Enforcers stand at 5-2 overall, 4-2 in the Conference, 1-1 in the Division. Our two losses were by three points each, one in overtime.

But, to make a push for the playoffs, we're not standing still in our off week.

North Liberty has offered three free agents slots on our roster and have tentatively cut three players. "We need more depth at certain positions and we're trying to address Special Teams a bit more." GM Hoosier.

Following the Bye Week, we have a tough road game at Morgantown and then return home for a four week stand facing Dakota and Chicago back to back. "The next five games will define who we are and where we stand as far as the playoffs. To do that, we have to shore up some weak areas on the roster and cut weak links." GM Hoosier.

And just who are the Free Agents? Stay tuned!

                    Enforcers Sign Three Free Agents

Wide receiver Carter "Endzone" Endzell, cornerback Connor Sullivan, and tackle Norman Schecton have signed one year contracts with North Liberty.

Wideout Endzell's 90 Special Teams bar caught our eye and I couldn't pass that up. He's Well Liked by fans, has decent Route Running skills, but we signed him for Special Team coverage.

Fan Favorite Wideout Connor Sullivan was signed to be our primary Punt Returner. 76/82 Punt Returns Bar is a dramatic improvement for Specials.

"Endzell and Sullivan adds to our Specials, and that's a tweak we needed for the second half of the season." G.M. Hoosier.

Undrafted second year offensive tackle Norm Scheckton, who played college football at Alabama-Birmingham, was signed to flesh out the o line. "We liked his potential...his Blocking Strength is 70, and we think with a little time he'll be a solid contributor to the o line." Hoosier. Endurance bar is a no go, but he does provide solid depth. Scheckton has been moved to right tackle to play behind starter Casey Clark.

Three Enforcers were cut from the roster to make room for the new players. "We cleared up some conflicts and improved the depth of the roster." Hoosier.

                      Enforcers Road Rage Marauders

Newly signed free agent Connor Sullivan (who played collegiately at LSU) returned a punt 71 yards for a touchdown and WR/Special Teams Carter Endzell registered three special teams tackles.

The new free agents contributed to our road win by improving Specials.

Game MVP left guard Adam Poor anchored the line and didn't allow a sack while adding five key run blocks out of eight opportunities.

Offensively North Liberty ran for 140 plus yards and dominated time of possession.

North Liberty improved to 6-2 in a very tight division race!

Looking forward to seeing his return stats after he gets the rust off. I was slightly surprised to see him as a free agent. That Return bar on him is impressive.

A need based pick, his Run Defense and Endurance Bars caught my eye. Much more of a finesse tackler than what I usually like, but Pass Rush Technique, and Play Diagnosis offset the negatives.

The standouts on our offensive line are veterans with a lot of years in the trenches, and I have to start slowly building up the replacements. The rookie can start at right guard and get some reps on a solid offenisve line.
