  • 2056 Draft Preview

    First of all, I want to say, this is MY view of the Draft, based on MY SCOUTS and Combines, please take it as it is, I don't have the absolute truth about FOF8 and I don't pretend I will ever have it! However I hope to give a bit of insight about the Prospects in the Draft with the good points and the red flags around them. Will rate a couple of Top Prospects and a Sleeper using 90 bars / 10 combines combination.

    Quarterbacks

    Lewis Hall (Texas Tech)

    At just 21 years old, and 1% Developed, Lewis is a rough diamond who will need time to groom under the wing of a Mentor. In tape he can make all the throws having SuperB touch, accuracy and arm strength. He was FAST in the combine (4.48) and had the 2nd best (18) bench press for his position.
    His Football IQ is just a notch below Outsanding and he wasn't as explosive (9-02) in the Broad Jump as many Scouts would've expect with his explosive rushing game, when everything goes down Hall is able to tuck the ball in and catch the defense out of position, or being very effective running keepers between the tackles with his big frame (6'3 / 228 lbs).

    Ceiling: A true Franchise QB who can carry his team to glory.

    NFL Comparison: Patrick Mahomes.

    Red Flags: Volatility (76), Development (1%) and his foot placement is below average in Medium Passes (11-20), overthrowing and missing wide open WRs between the marks, will make the Scouting teams to truly Interview him in the days leading to the Draft. Weight is also a concern and it will be a must for him to lose some extra fat to fit in the OSFL ideal weight, but we all know you can't know that until TC.

    Jordan McElroy (Purdue)

    Don't let McElroy age (21) fool you, he is more developed (29%) than Lewis Hall at this stage but he will also need time to develop before to provide guarantees as a starter. Jordan has a SuperB arm strength an excels in the deep ball, he also was excellent in college reading defences and executing the 2 minute drills, picking them apart late and often, he also knew when to tuck the ball in and fly from the pocket to get a positive gain. He showed the best Football IQ during the individual interviews.
    McElroy was described as a "Combine Warrior" as his numbers in the tests were a lot better than his game tape, he struggled with ball placement in short (0-10) and Medium (11-20) throws, having some problems to direct his 232 lbs towards the targets.

    Ceiling: In the correct system (Smashmouth, Run N Shoot) he can grow into a key component of the offense.

    NFL Comparison: Josh Allen

    Red Flags: Short / Medium game, 3rd Dwn passing and Identifying blitzers were a concern in game tape. He is also clearly Overweight and is unlikely that he will be able to correct that even with the proper personal training and a strict diet.

    Chester McKnight (Pittsburgh)

    Chester is the most developed (46%) QB in this class and was a 4 year starter for Pittsburgh, he demonstrated to be pretty decent to throw in all distances and pass types, but didn't excel in anyone particularly. He knows how to throw their WRs open and use the mistakes of the defenses to pick them apart, specially in 2 minute drills. His instincts to get out of trouble and break for big gains were well known in the NCAA during the last few years too.
    McKnight didn't show any flying colours during the combine and that makes Scouts for all teams to sweat about how "true" his tape is when translating it to the Pros. His 3rd down conversion rate when passing, wasn't great either during his career and that can be a problem if his team is not in 3rd & short, often leading to incompletions, passes short of the sticks and terrible interceptions.

    Ceiling: McKnight looks like the perfect QB for a Erhardt-Perkins or West Coast offense.

    NFL Comparison: Alex Smith

    Red Flags: Average Solecismic Test, Bench and Agility combines. Sub par 3rd down conversion % in college. Small frame (6'0 / 208) and High volatility (65)
    Miami Sharks (BLB)
    * BLB Champions --> 2017, 2020.

    Ohio River Sharks (OSFL)
    * OSFL Bowl CHAMPION > 2036, 2047.
