  • Salty Lake Musings

    Team taken over -- one of the worst franchises in the league (current franchise $ value)

    Old and lots of holes -- had about 28 players prior to FA and draft

    swung a big trade of my 1st round pick to get a stud TE and above aver safety

    Rest of draft
    Pick Team Team GM Change Team Name Pos post draft guess/ ex 2 outlook -
    2 - 12 (44) Salt Lake City * jzicc (online) Cary James S 55---- 29/46 expected more -- still probably long time starter
    3 - 11 (75) Salt Lake City * jzicc (online) Bill Brandon RB 55 31/41 another miss but decent bars
    4 - 6 (102) Salt Lake City * jzicc (online) Tristan Clancy CB 50 41/73 why? I'll take it
    4 - 10 (106) Salt Lake City * jzicc (online) Ralph Baicy ILB 46 27/45 decent LB 3
    5 - 12 (140) Salt Lake City * jzicc (online) Marlon Erhardt WR 44 22/34 ugh
    6 - 31 (191) Salt Lake City * jzicc (online) Amos Zimmerman K 63 48/61 10 year starter
    7 - 10 (202) Salt Lake City * jzicc (online) Braxton Cash WR 37 21/32 another ugh

    there's going to be at least 30 new players on the roster ---- going to be a stretch to get to 6 wins

      Same boat man - this off season I dumped majority of my play makers for future picks to do a hard reboot. I'm hoping we get above 5 wins this year but Idk. Also the cap situation was painful and will be once again next year due to trading/releasing for cap space. Currently sitting at 30m+ dead money next year. CPU had some TERRIBLE contracts.

        Draft was okay -- 3 starters + a K -- without a 1st rounder...

        32 new players but only 5 new starters ; went from one of the oldest rosters to average age--- a few legacy dumps next year and we'll be a team on the rise

        Absolutely no RB and WRs --- TE is going to have callusses

          First win under our belt, LB weakness and stud WR needed to compete at a mediocre level

            Stadium 11,100 (40,000 capacity)

            $1 beer for the rest of the year to get some fans in to see their division leading team (6-1)

              Ended up 11-5 and a top 10 team;

              offense somehow above average and Defense below average

              ************
              Only 12 players left from the roster cleansing which started 2 years ago when I took over

              SOmehow cash strapped as I always am;

              DRAFT : only 1, 2nd and 5th rounders kept -- only had 4 total (dropped the 4th rounder)

              4 new starters --1 from trade; 1 draft and 2 FAs ---

              Defensive Line (4-3) with all starters above 60 will have to make up again for the lackluster LB corps which will again be one of the worst;

              TE Furrer and his new $115 million over 5 year contract will again be the focus of the offense ;

              Going to say another 11-5 season - above aver O and average Def.

              We are only a great RB or WR and a great LB away from being a title contender

                  ended up 10-6
                  above average defense with insane interceptions (31) and a +/- of 20!!! and all that done with a bottom 5 pass rush.
                  offense below average as the lack of an average WR is turning a top 10 qb into a bottom 5 QB;

                  NEEDS -- WR, LB, RB and we will be a contender (which is a reiteration of what I said in the pre-season forecast)

                          Somehow made it to the super bowl but lost to the CAMDEN running machine; big offensive upgrades are needed to compete
