The changing of the guard happened quickly and quietly. Longtime GM and Owner Cesar "Shark" cleaned out his office without formally addressing the media. Taking over Shark's duties will be a relative unknown Spear. Besides a brief stint with the OSFL's Las Vegas Outlaws, not much is known about the Canadian's football philosophy. Spear made an offer to Shark to purchase the team after rumors circulated that Shark was looking to make an exit. The 1-3 River Sharks are struggling this year after four straight playoff appearances. Spear will have his work cut out for him in order to save this season but sources are saying that Spear may consider gutting the entire organization.
The only thing that has been confirmed with this restructuring will be a rebranding of the team's nickname. Shark owned the rights to the "Ohio River Sharks" and will finish the year with that name. Spear will be forced to rebrand the team but has assured fans that the team will not be relocating.
More details to come...
