Shannon Fulton Started his professional career back on 2027 as the #5 overall pick in that 2027 draft. Little did this kid from Fern Creek, KY know at the time, but he was going to make history.
Fulton started every game from year one until his final season. 145 consecutive games. That streak ended in week two of this past season when a knee injury prevented Shannon from taking the field. He would only start in six games in what would be his final season.
Leading up to this season, Fulton amassed quite the resume. If you looked up the term "ball hawk" in the football dictionary, you would see Shannon Fulton's picture. Going into the 2037 season, Fulton needed only one interception to become the league's all time leader in that category. So in week one of the season, Fulton made sure there was no doubt who was the king of interceptions. He had two in that game. Fulton finished his career with an astounding 63 interceptions. What makes this an even more significant record, 20 of those 63 were taken back for touchdowns. Then next closest player/s in the pick six column, have seven. One of them is still active. Washington's Deon Lee. As for interceptions, the next closest active player is Ohio's Les Holliday with 41.
Shannon Fulton leaves the OSFL as a four time league 1st team all pro. He was the 2033 Defensive Player of the Year. He is Punxsutawney's leader in interceptions, passes defensed (7th all time), punt return yards and punt return TD's. He also had 545 tackles and one sack.
There will be a big hole in the Phil's secondary to fill this off-season. A small ceremony with staff, players and Fulton's family will be held at the team's facility this weekend honoring him as one of the team's greatest of all time.
