  • There's a new leader!

Shannon Fulton has been chasing Jeremy Camilliri for a few seasons now in pursuit of the leagues interception record. Fulton got within one at the end of the 2036 season. So his goal to start the 2037 season was to get that record. Well, Fulton didn't waste any time. On the very first play from scrimmage on opening day, Fulton picked off Lake Country's QB Austin Arnold and returned is 20 yards for a TD. That interception tied him for the lead with 61. The TD was his 20th of his career. Shannon was already the all time record holder for TD's, so this just added to the total. In fact, no other player in league history is even close in that regard. The next highest pick six career total is seven. Deon Lee for the Washington Bombers is the closest active player with six.

Now that Fulton had a share of the record, he was looking to break it. He and the Punxsutawney fans wouldn't have to wait long. With about 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, Fulton picked off his second pass of the game and broke the record, becoming the OSFL All Time Leader in interceptions with 62.

This is a record that may stand for a very long time. The next closest active player is Memphis Showboats Brad Doty with 37. Considering Doty is 34 years old and in his 11th season, it doesn't look like he will make a run at the record.

Congratulations Shannon Fulton on being the all time interception leader.
