Rokiu appointed as new GM Gainesville

Fan were questionning decisions from the board of the Gaels as they appointed Rokiu as their new GM. They all agreed that it was time for a change, time to press the panic button as the team was going in an other desastrous season. We didnt need to wait the offseason. But many question why the organisation had to go north of the border, getting an unknown GM names Rokiu. Is he only aware that the game here is played with 4 downs and not 3? 11 players and not 12? End zones of 10 yards and not 25?

As much as they were glad for a change, the fans all fear its for the worst. The board still said that Rokiu had their full support and hope him the best. Rokiu himself agreed that as little experience he have in the big league, he knows the job: "We might not make it to the playoff short term, but we are planning for a long mentallity change. We are currently 1-10, as much as the season is pretty much dead, its not over and individuals will have the opportunity to prove their worth if they want to stay with the organisation and bring back the 2013 memories to the older fans!"

The road will be long, hopefully Rokiu will be able to deliver as fans are already pooling on possible replacement once he gets fired next year....

        Starting off the right foot

Fans in Gainesville were delighted to see the impact of the new General Manager on their favorite team, bringing in a first victory for Rokiu. The message was clear: everyone would be evalutated, coaches, QBs even down to the waterboys. Changes would be made where necessary to bring up the team. Players want to prove their worth as two snaps in we were up 14-0 and 21-0 after three minutes on road to a 34-21 win.

Notables were a solid game from defensive star Percy Brooks with a sack, a pick and two forced fumbles.

GM Rokiu was glad with its team win but still mention that lot of areas needed heavy work : "That was a nice win, but if we wanna compete with bigger teams we will need a more punishing offense, with no running game what so ever, our offense will be too predictable for big defenses"

On a much darker side, it was reported that veteran Wide Receiver Jerry Elkon left the team during the week. An ambulance was seen at his home in Gainesville. His absence is unknown as he was reported to have joined an undisclosed rehabilitation center. Teams official were quite evasive when prompted to answer, simply stating that the player had all the team support in his fight against his problems. It is pretty much clear that the player had sort of consumption issues.

Elkon was on way to have a career high season at the age of 32 and might miss the reminder of the season.

Single Star shining in a dark season

This is the end of a season to forget if you are a Gaels fan. The team finished with a sad record of 3-13. The team will need to improve on most sides of the ball, this is not a sprint where we'll want to compete but a marathon if we want to compete year in year out.

There is two positives to consider leaving this season. We hold the second pick in the next draft, hoping to find the face of the franchise for the years to come. Also, we would like to congratulate Joyner on his rookie offensive player of the year award. The previous first overall proved to be stepping up to expectations. We must hope for the same kind of impact player next draft.

They really don't do too much more than tackle people.

WLBs are definitely valuable for pass rushing.

I can find really good LBs later in the draft, but it's tougher to find stud CBs. They're not a dime a dozen.

But, it's just my opinion and the opinion of many owners.
