  • South Maryland Maulers: Rookie Draft

1-24. G Kyle Maciel, Iowa Hawkeyes
    6-6, 330 lbs.
    High volatility

As far as position groups go, Guard is the lowest rated group South Maryland has, and we needed to address that problem. Enter Maciel. He's got the strength and endurance combination I want in o lineman. It's important to have ironmen at the line in a run heavy offense, and he's that.

We're putting the mean in the offensive line.

2.26. G Malcolm "X" Castillo, North Carolina Tar Heels
    6-4, 309 lbs.
    Low volatility

I know I overpaid for this guy, but if you've seen the guards on this roster, you'd understand why I grabbed him in the second.
The two most important things I look in lineman are Endurance and Blocking Strength. This is another rookie guard that has that combination down pat. Although his Endurance Bar slips down to around 40, that's workable. It's better than we have now.

Stelly indicates his run blocking is slightly better than advertised, and his combines support that assertion.

He needs to bulk up a little bit, but that's what conditioning in tc does.

He may only be a career backup eventually, but for now he starts.

3.25. WR Glen Forbes, Rice Owls
      5-10, 179 lbs.
      Low volatility

Big Play Ability will never be all world, but the guy will be a solid possession receiver.

Average Speed and Agility Bars, very good Bench and Position Drill seem to indicate a solid wideout. Endurance bar and Specials got my attention. We need to fill out our Specials, and he adds to that.

4.24. S Marvin Jarvis, Maryland Terrapins.
      5-10, 185 lbs.
      Low volatility

He's average in the combines everywhere but Agility and Solevision. He may never be an excellent coverage skill player and Man 2 Man will take a hit.

But, for a backup, he's not bad. Good Endurance Bar, so we'll take him as a long term backup.

Our first player taken from the state of Maryland. Or Commonwealth. I never know which one.

5.25. RB Devin Stewart, Rutgers Scarlet Knights
        5-10, 206 lbs.
        Low Volatility

The kid has some Endurance Bar, and I like that. He'll be the two back and I think he's a find in the fifth round.

6.25. QB Bubba "Jo Jo" Gunne, Ohio State Buckeyes
        6-1, 207 lbs.
        Low Volatility

Everyone needs a Bubba on their football team, and we get one with a good nickname, Jo Jo. (Google Jo Jo Gunne, it's a seventies thing). A roll out quarterback that scrambles, he's got a wienie arm. But, he'll hold kicks and clipboards cheaply, and well.

7.25. DT A.J. Davidson, Maryland Terrapins
        6-0, 281 lbs.
        Very Low Volatility

Perennial depth/backup kinda guy. May last but one contract period.

Second year QB Galligher remains on The Green Page listing.

Let's see how long that lasts.

We don't have anyone on the League's Strongest Man List or the League's Fastest Man List.

            Uggh.

Team Cohesion is still Poor? Across the board. Oh my. Kill me , kill me now.
