What a weird season for us! We took over this team in the off-season with the goal of rebuilding. We traded out any vet we could get decent value for and moved out a lot of talent to acquire the 1.10 pick and grab our franchise QB of the future. I expected us to suck.

Instead... We are 5-4, 3-0 in the division and currently projected to grab a playoff spot. Of course, two of those division wins are against an injury depleted Kalispiel squad. But it is worth mentioning that we have a 2 roster rating and the next closest team is 29. We should not be winning 5 games all season.

Of course, things can turn around in a hurry, I have had it happen before. We could lose all of our games the rest of the way. But I am enjoying it right now.

The games we have left are:

    @ Portland (3-5)
    vs Yuma (6-2)
    @ NO (3-5)
    @ San Fran (3-5)
    vs Washington (3-5)
    vs Pearl Harbor (5-3)
    vs Portland (3-5)

Not a terribly hard schedule. The key will be the three divisional games.

By the way, anyone who knows me knows that I like to do rebuilds. Some people have even gotten hostile about me, I remember when I took over my USFL team there were some nasty comments when I traded the best CB in the league. But this kind of sums up my approach:

"I would like the fans to understand that what we’re trying to embark on is a process. We’re not going to fix this overnight. We didn’t get into the boat we’re in overnight. But I do want them to recognize that we have a way of thinking about this and we’re trying to create a plan that takes us over a period of time that allows us to continue to improve for several years. We definitely want to put a group of younger players together that we can keep together for a period of time. In our league, consistency is a very important attribute for success. We want to be a team that is consistently successful year-in, year-out.

I really do hope our fans will pay attention to what we’re trying to accomplish. I certainly will ask for their support. I understand why they might be somewhat skeptical or impatient or frustrated. I would be, too. But we’re all in this together. "

chuck, you're the master of rebuilds. Much respect for how you try and manage to put together competitive, winning teams, even after starting over with your talent.

Of course, you're not embarking upon a process. You're taking over the entire league in T-2 seasons. Max :P Your rebuilds happen incredibly quickly. Good job!

You're going to screw up your rebuild winning so quickly! :)

Unless you have an elite WR already, in which case you're fine.

I dunno, it seems to me we are pretty much devoid of a WR. The only real offensive weapon I feel as though we have is the QB. In spite of the decently decent stats so far, I think he may actually turn out even better than I thought. I think once he is 100% developed and has at least a decent WR or two, he will start to show more consistency. Right now he is lights out one week but completely shut down the next.

If I had my way, I would have taken a top 5 pick this season. I am not the type to throw games, though... But we will find ways to improve one way or another.

I liked that QB you took. If I was in your position I would've grabbed him there too. Don't remember the draft too well but I think I felt he was the last 1st round quality QB left.

I agree, throwing games is majorly lame. Fortunately this is a pretty friendly, laid back league and I don't think anyone has ever done that here.

We finish the season at 9-7. Not bad for a 2 rated roster.

I am guessing we will reset in the off-season and get a top 5 pick next draft. I still like that we added some quality pieces in the last draft. I won't have high draft position coming up but we'll have a decent number of picks to work with and hopefully I can turn that into something.
