.18 LT James Erickson 37/76 - Was wanting to get one of the top tackles to anchor our line and try and reduce the number of sacks we are giving up plus open some more holes for McCumber. Had Erickson targeted for the 1.3 pick but decided I needed more picks so I was able to move back to 1.18 and still got Erickson and picked up picks in the 2nd, 4th, and an extra first next year while only giving up next year's 7th.
.17 CB Bo Morrison 34/56 - My secondary got torched for a lot of big plays last year so we wanted to concentrate on that area this draft. Morrison is the first of our picks in this area. My scout gives him excellent bars at run defense, man to man, play diagnosis, and interceptions. Good bar at zone but really suffers at bump and run and punishing hitter. Also appears to have the chops to do kick returns. Anxious to see how his numbers change in camp.
.3 FS Mark Maher 24/69 - Another pick for the secondary. Has good bars but I'm sure we'll see a drop after camp. Just hoping he'll turn out better then my current safeties in the end. Also has the bars to be a punt/kick returner, another area we need improvement in.
.2 SE Roderick DeLoatch 25/43 - At this point it was time to hit our other area of need and that is wide receiver. Really wanted the guy that was taken at 4.1, (A gypsy was hired to put a curse on Yuma) so scrambled a bit trying to find guys I liked. Sad to say but the numbers on this player and the next are probably going to be a bit better then some of the folks under contract now. I can see we'll probably have to address this area next season. DeLoatch has good bars except avoid drops and endurance and those may be his downfall if they don't end up on the upper side. Does have great speed though so hoping he'll work out.
.11 SE Vince Blubaum 24/36 - Another reach at receiver. Has great speed and size though so may end up making the roster as special team player if nothing else as he has a high bar there also. Looks like he has a good 3rd down catching bar also so he might see the field some as 5th receiver
.3 FB Brent Kerby 21/53 - Looking to improve the blocking out of this position as that is what I'm primarily looking for. If he pans out his blocking numbers are better then the other 2 FBs on the roster and much better at blitz pick up, which definitely needed improvement.
.2 TE Derrick Jeffries 28/52 - Only had 2 TE's on the roster and needed a 3rd as we weren't bringing Sutton back. Jeffries has great speed for the position and pretty good blocking bars. Unless he has a huge drop in camp he will see time on the field.
.3 CB J.B. Godsey 22/60 - Just took a stab in the last round as I didn't like anyone I had scouted and may have done alright here. Not a great look with run defense or punishing hitter but high bars with all the pass defense areas plus interceptions. He could drop 20 points off that potential and still make this team, which says something about the current state of my secondary.
