  • Washington Draft 2024

    1.29 - RB Gino Hanks - 51/61. As mentioned in the chat room by Utah, it is the 2nd coming of A.J. McGee - I hope. The biggest difference is the (apparent) low EN. McGee was/is a horse, Hanks will need to be spelled. He has zero for elusiveness, so a very north-south runner that needs good blocking. Superb 3rd down skills, which may be where he starts out.

    2.29 - FB Benjamin Tuiososopo - 42/68. A much bigger upgrade here at FB, as Metzenbaum started declining years ago, and was never a great run-blocker. I don't know that we have *the* man in the backfield anymore, but these two add an enormous amount of weaponry overall.

    3.29 - DE Rusty Hardy - 26/44. Eh. Not really feeling this one. Looks like a schlub.

    4.29 - RT Jorge Curtis - 17/53. At this point, I was just looking for some run-blocking along the OL. Curtis does look like the real deal, but not a star or anything.

    5.29 - LT Nate Evans - 16/41. Eh.

    6.29 - LT Randal Lanza - 19/44. Shotgun approach. Probably moves to guard, if he has any hope.

    7.29 - QB Randall Gray - 13/44. More irrelevant than Mr. Irrelevant, but still may make the roster for his mad kick-holding skillz.

    Overall, I'm pretty excited about the additions in the backfield. Not seeing much to crow about in picks 3-7 though.

    1.29 - RB Gino Hanks - 48/60 -> 49/59 (+1/-1). Not a bad camp. My scouting varies pretty strongly here, listing him as 52/60. I'm hoping my VG/VG scout is more accurate. McGee took a huge dive, and Judge is holding out. Hanks has every shot to be THE man here.

    2.29 - FB Benjamin Tuiososopo - 41/66 -> 46/65 (+5/-1). Again, my scout shows him as 47/67. Looks to be a monster blocker, and a pretty good runner. Love this pick.

    3.29 - DE Rusty Hardy - 25/43 -> 27/39 (+2/-4). Big miss here. Might hang around for depth.

    4.29 - RT Jorge Curtis - 17/50 -> 20/45 (+3/-5). Crap.

    5.29 - LT Nate Evans - 15/40 -> 19/40 (+4/0). Crap.

    6.29 - LT Randal Lanza - 22/43 -> 26/42 (+4/-1). Crap.

    7.29 - QB Randall Gray - 13/42 -> 16/41 (+3/-1). Crap.

    I really bombed out in the later rounds here, pretty much everything past the 2nd round. Hardy may stick, and maybe Gray for his kick holding - but wouldn't be surprise to see all five get axed. Bummer.

    That being said, I am definitely excited about the new backfield.

      AFAIK, scouts - especially good ones - are worse at looking at masked players on your own team versus players that aren't on your team. Sucks about McGee (and even more about that corner Graham, oh my goodness), but Hanks looks really strong either way. Probably one of those guys who "maxes out" and then keeps climbing.

      Definitely a sweet backfield reworking, picking late in the 1st two rounds.

        Yeah, works the same as the cut test. If I do that, it comes out just as described.

        But hey, if he's only as good as he shows, with those bars, I'm happy.
