  • ***Waco Warhawks 2021 Draft***

OK i love drafts that you "target" for later rounds and still have them on the board for value. I had a few sneaky picks i really liked. I think Newman is going to be great for us and i am guessing we come away with 4 starters here and 2 special teamers(if you count clipboard holding ;) )

    1 - 6 (6) WAC Herb Newman WR Iowa

    School: Iowa
    Height: 6' 0" (Average)
Weight: 199 lbs. (Way Below Average)
    Experience: R
    Interviewed: No
    Solecismic Score: 23
    40 Time: 4.41
    Bench Reps: 14
    Agility: 6.97
    Broad Jump: 10' 1"
    Position Drill: 50
    Grade: 6.40
    Adjusted Grade: 6.70
    Volatility: 60
    Developed: 54
Newman is a fast kid with return ability. We thought he was going to be off the clock at our pick because of Bensanity that is going on right now. With 20ish intelligence he looks high 60 rated for us.

    2 - 7 (39) WAC Jon"Irish Midget" Deneault CB Notre Dame

    School: Notre Dame
    Height: 5' 7" (Short)
    Weight: 194 lbs. (Light)
    Experience: R
    Interviewed: No
    Solecismic Score: 12
    40 Time: 4.42
    Bench Reps: 15
    Agility: 7.14
    Broad Jump: 9' 4"
    Position Drill: 51
    Grade: 5.90
    Adjusted Grade: 6.10
    Volatility: 64
    Developed: 58
THe little guy has some great coverage skills. We wanted to shore up the cornerback job in this draft and hopefully the midget pays dividends for us.

    3 - 6 (70) WAC Buddy Abrams DT Texas A&M

    School: Texas A&M
    Height: 6' 4" (Above Average)
Weight: 326 lbs. (Way Above Average)
    Experience: R
    Interviewed: No
    Solecismic Score: 27
    40 Time: 5.04
    Bench Reps: 32
    Agility: 7.59
    Broad Jump: 8' 7"
    Grade: 5.60
    Adjusted Grade: 6.10
    Volatility: 67
    Developed: 41
Buddy will show up day one and have a starting job with us if he works hard this offseason. We loved his 2nd round grade in the early third for us.

4 - 7 (103) WAC Rufus "Fergie" Ferguson OLB Southern California

    School: Southern California
    Height: 6' 0" (Below Average)
    Weight: 238 lbs. (Average)
    Experience: R
    Interviewed: No
    Solecismic Score: 18
    40 Time: 4.72
    Bench Reps: 21
    Agility: 7.25
    Broad Jump: 8' 3"
    Position Drill: 23
    Grade: 4.70
    Adjusted Grade: 4.50
    Volatility: 41
    Developed: 50
Rufus is interesting as he excels in 3 things staying on the field, coverage at the line of scrimmage on 1 on 1, and stopping the run. I am not sure how much more i can ask of him if he pans out.

    5 - 6 (134) WAC Kerry Dunlap WR Oregon

    School: Oregon
    Height: 6' 1" (Above Average)
Weight: 215 lbs. (Way Below Average)
    Experience: R
    Interviewed: No
    Solecismic Score: 28
    40 Time: 4.47
    Bench Reps: 11
    Agility: 7.34
    Broad Jump: 10' 2"
    Position Drill: 42
    Grade: 4.80
    Adjusted Grade: 5.00
    Volatility: 20
    Developed: 40
Another good return guy that we liked because he has no true flaws and can make some big plays in the passing game for us.

    6 - 7 (167) WAC Martin Ingram CB/S Mississippi State

    School: Mississippi State
    Height: 6' 0" (Above Average)
    Weight: 197 lbs. (Above Average)

    Solecismic Score: 25
    40 Time: 4.64
    Bench Reps: 14
    Agility: 7.31
    Broad Jump: 8' 11"
    Position Drill: 42
    Grade: 3.90
    Adjusted Grade: 4.00
    Volatility: 40
    Developed: 30
We drafted Ingram to move to S instantly. This kid can flat out hit and his bars show me something different then his combine workouts. I will be interested to see if anyone else noticed him.

    7 - 6 (198) WAC Jim Corbett QB Minnesota

    School: Minnesota
    Height: 6' 1" (Below Average)
    Weight: 212 lbs. (Below Average)

    40 Time: 5.02
    Bench Reps: 10
    Agility: 7.83
    Broad Jump: 9' 2"
    Position Drill: 83
    Grade: 4.60
    Adjusted Grade: 5.20
    Volatility: 54
    Developed: 17
OK i missed the 7th round pick and this must have been one of the last kids i had in the kitty for the interns to draft. We were already out talking to the draft picks that would make the team we forgot about this pick. Lucky for us our intern made the pick and here she is-

I definitely noticed Ingram. He could turn out pretty solidly for you. I was a little skeptical of his cover skills, but he's someone I was looking at in the 6th/7th. before you snatched him up.

Eh, you're probably right. Would not have had the balls to pull the trigger on him. My scout said VO, and that 40 time.... But I did notice him and liked the PH a lot. I guess what I mean is, I like that pick. But my opinion of Ingram definitely went up after the fact of you selecting him, since I know how good you are at drafting :)
