1. Jumbo Samson OLB 41/73 - I was needing an OLB who could rush the passer and Jumbo looks to fit the bill. He should be starting from day one.
2. Greg Glenn QB 12/49 - I was hoping to find my QB of the future here and initial impression is that he will be able to fill the bill but I'm hoping to see improvement in his numbers after training camp and probably next season's summer league.
3a. Blake Everett CB 24/66 - After losing out on secondary help in free agency I turned to the draft to fill this need and this is the first of what I hope turn out to be 3 good secondary picks. Like the numbers and the size and if the need arises I think he could move to safety.
3b. Damon Cloutier S 24/61 - My next pick to beef up the secondary. I traded up to get this guy and I think he'll be a good pick if those numbers hold.
4. Bryce Alston CB 22/55 - The third pick to bolster the secondary and hopefully he will also live up to his numbers
6. Ross Connell SE 14/42 - Getting to this point I decided to see if I could help the offense. If he gets to that 42 level he'll be an improvement over some of my current receivers but I think in the end he'll just be a replacement for some of the aging receivers in a year or two.
7. Bernard Gonzalez T 14/33 - I really needed another offensive lineman but kept passing on them in the earlier rounds and found myself without much to pick from. Took Gonzalez as a "homer" pick from my alma mater. Once signed I'll probably move him to guard and see if it boosts his numbers any but more then likely he won't make the team.
I'm probably going to regret passing on some guards in the 4th and 6th rounds as I needed a bit of help there but only time will tell. I should have helped the defense considerably though, even it takes a few seasons for the secondary rookies to really develop.
