  • Ac west week 3

well well well here we are back at square 1 with all 4 teams 1-1 looks like its going to be a long season in the wild wild west. as week 3 rolls around heres a look at the matchups

Los Alamos takes on Anchorage, the monsters found their balance last week as the racked up 149 rushing yards, and getting into the red zone 4 times coming away with 3 td. their defense has been outstanding as well collecting 3 ints

Utah looks to get back on track after losing on a missed 38 yard FG with 10 seconds left bees kicker Vinny Philcox said "it was a wet field and i just lost my footing a bit, but i had switched to a longer cleat and didnt have a problem before" he made FG's of 35,47 and 50 earlier. utah should be better this week at home vs 0-2 lakae county in spite of the Xtreme having wont the last 5 matchups in a row

Denver has possibly the toughest game of the week as they face 0-2 Washington, just 2 years removed from their title run the Bombers are looking to get a W in their home opener. tho the Grizz have show the fight to pull one out ironically Denver is in the position to "poke the bear" they just hope he stays asleep for 1 more week

the Riders are at home yet again and hosting motor city both teams are 1-1 Phoenix needs to find its offense or it will be a long season indeed as they have yet to score 20 points. perhaps some balance will help. in last weeks loss Marcus Ramsey threw the ball 44 times and was also sacked 3 times

wow what a game Ramsey throws 2 tds and wins the game instead of managing it. 5 for 5 in the red zone even got in the pile and recovered a fumble hes a gamer.

got back to my roots phoenix is 15-6 when shumway goes for 100+ yds rushing and we did it today inspite of MTC playing a lot of run d and that beast perry in the middle

losing ethan fox is huge next to mahon hes my best lineman not sure how effective the running game will be and as witnessed today if i cant run i cant score

Three teams lost putting you at the top, Strick. I get Memphis next and then my bye week.

Not sure what to do about Corbett's knee injury. Those are risky propositions because a re-injure can lead to something serious. But sitting him is almost like giving up on a game...

you should rest him untill week 8 have him play him week 8

then rest him the remainder of the season

i think im going DT next draft the more i look at my game last week the more i see how perry controlled the middle against los alamos Fox had 3 KRB in 7 opps against perry 1 for 11

randall lacasse 10 carries for 4 yards. and after fox went out it got worse.

somone can correct me if im wrong but i take that to mean that there were 11 plays he could have spring the back for a substantial gain and he only got 1.

I don't want to spoil the party for you here because I think you are on to something... Run stuffing DTs can really stop the run game.

On the other hand, the 1 for 11 does not mean much on its own. You have to read it more this way: on 11 run plays, he was the key guy in the blocking scheme. However, the run was only a success on 1 of those plays.

The reason for the success/failure can vary but it does not all boil down to the key guy. It could be because your RB sucked. It could be because everyone else on your line sucked. Or indeed, it could be because your opponent's run stuffing DT had a field day.

the bold gets my vote, and my guard with the season/career ending knee injury probably would agree

considering the player in question and looking at all the variables i can safely say that Perry wore my guys out. also too looking at perrys 2 prior games he had a sack in each of them. i suppose im easily impressed but when your NT leads your team in sacks.... that says something. hes a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but i guess the more intresting question for me at least is what is "success"? i dont recall seing a definition of "success" how many yards does it take for a run play to be a success?

It depends on the situation. A first down rush is always a success, I think.

Success is determined by the number of yards gained, the distance to get a 1st down and what down it is. For example, on a 1st and 10 if you go 5 yards or more, it is a success. I do not know the breakdowns for other downs/distances, though. But Nutah is right, a 1st down is for sure a success.

As I said, I don't disagree on your assessment of the DT stuffing you. I just wanted to point out that key run blocks are not necessarily an indicator that a player had a bad game. In fact, you could almost make the opposite argument here. 11 key run opportunities is a HUGE game for a lineman. The question becomes - did he get those opportunities because he is the only good player on your line? Is it because you ran mostly to the inside?

Also, why are you complaining, you won? ;-) Personally, I would try my best not to draft a DT in the top 10, unless he was a real stud. Definitely not top 3. This game shows why. A DT cannot win you games like a stud WR can. Even a stud RB, CB or DE.

im complaining cause i lost my pro bowl G for the season

LOL no not really complaining. maybe because ive taken to watching the solevision recently so to see it unfold play by play and know how good my ol is (my C has 5 pro bows and 1 lineman of the year and a 61/61 G and 81/81T bars are balanced well altho the T has low end) and to see perry just dominate that game is a little disconcerting for the rest of the season.

i run inside a LOT i just dont recall double digit opps for anyone in a while. but what it boils down to is....im gonna have nightmares about perry

you know what tho thats what makes me come back for more with this game. we can sit and wonder why the 11 KRO's and wether it was a good or bad day, just as in real football the score board is the final judge
