  • 2019 Draft class discussion

At first glance it looks like a weak class. It seems pretty devoid of offensive talent at the top of the class. I was thinking of trying to make a drastic play if there was top notch offensive talent up there... But I think I will stand pat.

Had to make up for the stellar class at the top that was last year.

I am seeing a really, almost comically interesting QB prospect. This guy has 99 pspec and is 1% developed (but green broad jump).

Also with a 39 sol score... And I am guessing fairly low intelligence (because he starts with 7 formations). He doesn't look at first glance like a big time creeper, though. So you would have to live with some fairly low bars.

On the other hand, there is some really big time talent available in FA. CB Joel Montoya leads a really stellar list. Not a good time to be sitting with 46 million in lost cap room.

Yep. I always feel like multi-player leagues should skip FA1-1. You can always do renegotiations at future stages.

But maybe I am missing something.

In any case, you can sort through all the FAs that will be on the table at FA1-2. You just can't bid on them, yet.

Yea, you make a good point. RFAs are RFAs all the way until training camp is run, if I'm not mistaken. So this is the cruel stage of the offseason where we see all the FAs and can't do anything about them.

Just how do we manage the draft? Never having done this before I'm curious.

It'll be done online via a draft utility. There are different length timers for different rounds. Kind of like a chess game played via email. It'll take days.

One practice I think we can take advantage of is to make the draft live for a week before the draft officially begins and the clock starts rolling. Missing first round picks sucks a lot, and so does not knowing whether you will be up on the clock in 4 hours or 1 day. This way we can hopefully get through the first round before the clock officially even starts, and then fly through the rest of the draft.

I also got no information from my draft interviews but I'm guessing that I'm getting that because my scout is really good at positional evaluations but his young talent rating is "There's young talent?" or poor, whichever is worse.

You get some information from the draft interviews. Attributes like intelligence, and the blue bars become narrower orange bars.

You just don't get the results of the interviews back until you upload the export and the next sim happens. Otherwise you could open up the file, interview 60 people, get the results, close the file, and interview another 60 people.

Well I can see I've still got a lot to learn. Thanks for the info.

It looks like one of those drafts where you're better off taking the BPA when it's your turn, instead of building your team based off your needs...

depth looks like an issue with this one...

so..I'm gonna be flexible, watch the draft unfold, and take the bpa when it's the Enforcers pick...

can't count on filling needs I think...

Also of interest ; is that the sons of William "Fridge" Perry top the talent list in the upcoming draft.
