One practice I think we can take advantage of is to make the draft live for a week before the draft officially begins and the clock starts rolling. Missing first round picks sucks a lot, and so does not knowing whether you will be up on the clock in 4 hours or 1 day. This way we can hopefully get through the first round before the clock officially even starts, and then fly through the rest of the draft.

Meh - even if this practice is adopted it guarantees nothing. I know over at the CyFL Bode thinks that the 1st round will be done by the 12th but I will believe it when I see it (I note that no picks have been made yet).

Take the example of the USFL. The draft was untimed for a week and only 5 picks were made.

In any case, just because the draft is not live does not mean picks cannot be made. An official "post your picks here" thread can be started in lieu of the live draft.
