Dear OSFL owners, just wanted to post this as most of you haven't seen this.
Andrew, the man that's been running this site from the beginning is stepping down in the near future. Having said that, we are going to be making a few changes and I thought you all should be notified.
One, we're changing our host/site, but we'll be keeping the SGN name.
We’ve located a host/site that SGN should be able to transition over to very cleanly. The new host would not only provide us unlimited storage and bandwidth, but do so at a considerably cheaper cost than our current host. The only thing, at this point, that we foresee not making the transition over would be the CHATROOM. All in all, not sure that is a huge loss.
We’ve earmarked March 17th as the transition date for scheduling purposes to use Andrew as a resource in the move. Technically, we’re still on this host beyond that date. However, if we’ve learned nothing else, we’re not going to wait until the last minute. It’s better to move early, than to get screwed and go dead air.
What does that mean to the Owners on SGN? Well, honestly, it shouldn’t mean too much big picture. The move SHOULD be mostly seamless. However, we do need to have a little “pledge drive” to get us moved. The new host has a VERY reasonable hosting plan that we can Pre-pay for 24 months for a considerable savings over our current host. While this new host is an unknown to us, there have been conversations with another OOTP Commish who is hosting there and had no complaints.
The donation link on the site is still the best way to “chip in” to the cause. We're a good 80% done with fundraising thanks to the BLB, so, if you're interested in donating, feel free.
