  • Elimination of midweeks (Poll)

Wanted to throw this out there...

One of the complaints I get about the OSFL is that it moves too slow. To remedy that situation I am proposing the end of midweeks.

The schedule would then switch to the following

    Tue - Game
    Thu - Game
    Sun - Game

This would cut down our regular season to about 6 weeks rather than the average 9 weeks it takes on the two games a week schedule.

I know some will have questions on how to make roster moves without a midweek, but I know some here can explain better than I can as to how to make it work.

I'd like to put this resolution up to vote. If I get a majority one way or another I'll pass it or deny it.

Thanks, and feel free to discuss the pro's/con's of the move in this thread.

Yeah, I think this explanation would be helpful :) Things like depth charts, etc...how does that work? Maybe a limited # of midweeks (e.g, one every four weeks or three times a season) would strike a balance between season speed and allowing some roster movement.

One option I've seen is midweeks for like the first few weeks (up to the trade deadline is a nice break), then full speed ahead.

Depth charts work the same as with midweeks. The only gotcha is if you're signing a FA (or trading, of course). If you have 53 and sign a FA, it'll readjust your entire roster as it sees fit because it automatically makes a new FA active.

The way around that is to send your roster in with 45 active. It'll complain when you say export, but works fine.

Same problem can happen with trades, as I believe the player comes in as the same status they were on their previous team - i.e., if they were active, they come in active, inactive come in inactive. But as long as you keep in mind the active/inactive thing, it's not difficult.

At Shiba, we have them until the trade deadline and then by request only.

            I said "I don't care."

I think something needs to be done about the sim schedule, but I'm not sure what. When you get a Sunday game sim, waiting until Thursday for your next game seems like an eternity. Maybe a Monday night mid-week is a quick fix? I'm open to ideas and down for whatever is best for the league and easy on Linty.

I agree with Pat. I would definately prefer three sims a week, but I don't really care how we get there. Maybe doing Sunday - Tuesday - Thursday game sims and for the first five weeks (to the trade deadline) doing Mon-Wed-Sat mid weeks? It'd probably be too much for Linty, but it'd only be for a week and a half.
