I assume he keeps backups, couldn't he just go back a SIM to get their contracts and edit?

1. void
2. owner re-signs them to one-year deals equal to what they had been getting
3. next year, owner re-signs them to x-year deal for the rest of the contract value
Downsides to this way of doing it...
- lots of tracking
- players might not sign for the amounts
- other owners not paying full attention might sign one of these guys

I saw this last night and was planning to address it tonight. A couple of thoughts:
1) This league is not a rule heavy league. We have 2 major rules. The Grey Sheet rule (Top 75 FA cant receive an offer for less than they are requesting) and this renegotation rule. Every owner should be aware of it (especially the veteran owners) because its been discussed several times and I've posted multiple reminder emails.
The punishment is harsh and thats exactly what I wanted. I wanted the rule to have some teeth. I actually considered changing it so that a draft pick can be taken after the second violation. The reason is that the rule isnt complicated or difficult to follow. Owners have to take the responsibility of knowing the rules and following them.
2) Tom (Kalispel) is a great owner and one of the most active in the league. There is no doubt in my mind that this was just a simple mistake and that he will never violate the rules again. With that said, 17 of those signings violate the league renegotiation rules and according to the rules the contracts must be voided. Here is a list of the players:
Manning, Mcmurray, Medford, Meyer, Grier, Carter, Morris, Perkins, Ramsey, Carter, Richmond, Vance, Stone, Watson, Ernst, Finch, Floyd and Gushue.
This is the second team that violated the rules this season. The first team signed its two starting T to illegal contracts. Because it was a first offense and an honest mistake, I allowed him to keep one of the T and voided the other T's contract. The T then became a FA and he was able to sign him back but had to compete w/ other owners.
I'm going to do something similar here and will give Kalispel the oppurtunity to protect 4 of its players. The other 13 will become FAs and any team can bid for their services. I know some will see this as a harsh punishment but the new rules were put in for a reason and I feel they must be enforced.

When will the contracts be voided?

Once I hear back from Tom. Hopefully before Thursday's sim at the latest. One thing I noticed was most of the players were average to below average players. I think there will be 1 or 2 good players available at the most.

i understand he intent of the rule. however in my situation it wouldnt be against the spirit of the rule. im simply trying to make the "numbers work" not trying to prevent guys from hitting free agency. and its not like im trying to sign studs just trying to fill roster spots

This rule will cause teams to have to be careful with who the sign to long term deals and force them to make tough decisions about players every now and then.

Ive actually had a second thought about Kalispel's rule violation. As I stated earlier, when another team signed 2 players against the rules I let him keep one and voided the other....a 1 for 1 deal. I would only be fair that I do the same thing here.
So instead of 4 players, I will let Kalispel keep 8 of the 17 contracts. With that said, because this was a huge violation of the rule, Kalispel will not be given a second warning. If Kalispel violates the rules again he will be forced to void every player and will lose a draft pick of my choosing.
