  • SGN PRESENTS: The 2013 OSFL ROOKIE DRAFT

Commisioner AHolbert: "With the first pick in the 2013 OSFL Rookie Draft, the Boston Fightin' Irish select. . .

Defensive tackle Trevor Pruett from Temple...."

"No real big surprise here as Boston
takes the run stuffing Owl. A solid, solid pick by the Irish as they take the best player in the draft."

    Cue the tape:

and here you can see the pressure he puts on the quarterback denying him the ability to step up into the pocket

Run defense, pass rush strength, and a rock solid hitter, Pruett is exactly what Boston needs in the middle. Reports out of Boston have indicated
that Pruett was vastly underrated in the combine and G.M. David "Hoosier" Owens came away impressed with the kid.

Port City Steam are on the clock. ..and who will they take?

    2-3. DE Irv Elliot, Drake
    Average volatility

A need based pick, the former Bulldog from Drake has good potential.
His combine bars indicate a player who has good run defense ability,
nice pass rush technique, good play diagnoses, solid endurance, and a slobberknocker of a hitter.

There is a discrepancy between the Solecismic Test score reported on the player card, the play diagnosis rating in the utility, and
    the combine score (same thing, I know) . . . I'm gambling
that there's an error in reporting somewhere and he's better than advertised.

Superior combine score in the 40 yard dash and great scores in agility are married to average scores in all other areas. Combine wise, there really isn't anything poor about the guy.

He'll compete with second year de Greg Hughes for the starting left defensive end position.

I like this guy. . .once I decided on Pruett, I gambled that he'd be there in the second round since there'd be a flurry of defensive ends picked in the first round.

4.1. OG Lance Hough, OK State
      6'3" 298 lbs
      very high volatility
      interviewed: affinity with team leader

Solid bars in every area with great combine scores in strength and intelligence, the OKie State Cowboy could be a nice solid find in the fourth round.

Despite the very overrated report from the scouting staff, the affinity with a team leader made him a better pick than the Wyoming Cowboy OG rated a bit higher.

        5.4. QB Norbert Jameson, Michigan
        6'1" 204 lbs
        Average volatility

Scouting report reveals a scrambling qb proficient at screen passes, accuracy, timing, sense rush, and reading defenses.
A stellar kick holder, Jameson will be called upon to serve as kick holder and clipboard manager.

I like the fact that he's a short passer and knows 14 formations. That helps and should Cote mentor well, he could actually
have the potential to be a very good backup and/or eventual starter.

A great Solecismic Score and great 40 time expands our opportunities to run out of trouble. Poor scores in strength and broad jump
may be addressed in offseason training and summer league play.

With only one qb on the roster, it was necessary for us to find a cheap roster filler.

6.2. Punter Roderick Winters, Penn Quakers
        6'1" 205 lbs.
        low volatility

Combine bars indicate a decent punter with a bright future. Great score in Solecismic Test offsets agility and broad jump rankings which were poor.
And really now, how many agile, broad jumping punters do you know?

A reach for a punter? Maybe. It's the sixth round. We'll have to see.

Any Norbert I've ever heard of (b4 the Eddie Murphy movie) was an old southern white guy.
