Herb Nikolaus who led the Stags to a 30-21 record since taking over as the head signal caller was cut today. Nikolaus threw for over 4000 yds last season and led the team to two consecutive division titles. His stock fell when the team traded for Sammy Dillion in the off season. The Stags felt the 3+ million contract could be better served else where.
Also, long time back up RB Deron Talley was let go. Talley ran for over 2800 yards in his career and averaged 4.12 yards a carry. Rookie replacement Daniel Carter is already considered a fan favorite. He ran for over 1200 yards in his senior season at Pitt . He is an extremely elusive runner at 5'9" and 211 lbs and could spell Jack Taylor on 3rd downs.
