Week Sixteen
Top Five
1. Phoenix Riders (14-1) - W 28-17 over Chicago Reapers - LW #1
This game was actually close, but good teams like Phoenix, just find the way to win every week. This team has lost once all season, a three-point loss in week six to the defending Stevens Cup Champs, on the road. Wow. Good luck to the rest of the OSFL.
2. St. Paul Bandits (13-2) - W 37-14 over Los Alamos Monsters – LW #2
Despite being 13-2, it would be wise for the Bandits to play week 17 with some importance. Two other NC teams are sitting at 12-3. If they want homefield they have to win this game next week against (6-9) Chicago. It will be done.
3. Camden Cutters (12-3) - W 27-14 over Ohio Valley Showboats - LW #3
Camden came from behind to defeat the Showboats. QB Martin Cothran was 24/27 with two touchdowns and 240 yards. The defense gave up just 180 yards. Next week they are at (4-11) Brooklyn Hitmen, and they need to win for the division.
4. Baltimore Bulls (12-3) - W 27-11 pver Motor City Mechanics - LW #4
The Bulls get the bounce back win they needed. Next week they host (3-12) Boston, in game they need to keep pace in the NC East. I think they will win, but I don't see Camden losing. A 13-3 Wild Card team? Welcome to the NC.
5. Memphis Admirals (12-3) - W 38-13 over Charlotte Knights - LW #5
If the Admirals quarterback Dusty Cowell has games like this, 22/28 for 322 yards and four touchdowns, in the playoffs, they are going to be tough to beat. Next week they are at (8-7) Waco Warhawks, but with nothing to gain, Memphis will definitely give its starters some rest.
Bottom One
1. Charlotte Knights (2-13) - L 13-38 to Memphis Admirals
After one week off the bottom list, they are back. The leagues only 2-13 team. Next week is at (7-8) Morgantown. Good luck. Looks like the top pick is yours. The Knights also own the Gladiators and North Liberty's first round picks. Should be an exciting day for Charlotte.
Game of the Week
This weeks "Game of the Week" was between two (9-5) squads, the San Fransisco Bayhawks and the Kalispel Stags. A battle the whole way through, but Bayhawks QB Rico Whalen proved to be the difference. Great game. San Fransisco rises to (10-5) and is in first in the NC West. The Stags fall to (9-6) and are tied in the AC North with Anchorage.
Next weeks "Game of the Week" is a few games. There are a handful of teams out there fighting for spots. I wish everyone good luck! Which I guess cancels eachother out...
Player Spotlights
This weeks offensive spotlight is on North Liberty Enforcers running back Conrad Bronson. He is having a career year, and on Sunday he rushed for 158 yards, a touchdown and catch in the win over Utah.
This weeks defensive spotlight is on Gainesville Gaels defensive end Brian Roset. Arguably one of the leagues best all-time pass rushers had 4 tackles, 3 sacks, 6 hurries and 2 quarterback knockdowns in the surprise win over (9-6) New Orleans.
