You're playing with semantics. You cant assume people will interpret a particular word as you do. Maybe its just me but I was definitely lost in translation with your use of the word "poach" especially because there is no where in the instructions where you clearly distinguish a difference between poach and promote. You don't even use the word promote at all. My understanding was poaching a coach meant simply hiring a coach from another team. Also, it doesn't help that the instruction about "poaching" a coach is written as an asterisk under a rule involving "promoting" coaches either... My 2 cents.

I suggest you make it more clear in the instructions. Its hard enough joining a new league and being at the bottom of the pecking order for hiring coaches. This makes a huge difference.

From the Help File, I hope this definitely clears the doubts:

"Any unhired and non-retired coach or coordinator who can fill a particular position will be amenable. In addition, you may promote a staff member from your team or another team (assistant coaches can become coordinators or head coaches, coordinators may become head coaches) unless they were just re-signed to a contract. You may "poach" a staff member at the same level from another team if that team drafts at least four positions later and the staff member would be entering the last year of his contract."

First post edited too, always good to receive feedback in the wording as English isn't my mother tongue.

              So, to sum up:

              1) You may hire another team's coordinator or assistant to be your head coach.
              2) You may hire another team's assistant to be your coordinator. (? not 100% sure on this one)
              3) You may hire another team's coordinator or assistant to perform the same job for your team, provided that:
--- A) they have only 1 year remaining in their contract, AND
--- B) you are at least 5 spots ahead of that team in the staff draft order.

              Is all of this correct?
