  • In-season renegotiations?

    https://forums.operationsports.com/f...ad.php?t=93278

    Have you all seen or considered this thread?

    This is my first season playing FOF8 and I was gone most of August camping, so I missed a lot of the offseason/preseason. I didn't really realize there was a "deadline" for resigning your current players. As such, I have 8 starters with expiring contracts, including my long-time QB, star Center, and best receiver.

    A-Husker-4-Life commented in that thread that he is still able to do in-season renegotiations as commissioner of the CFL.

    Sharkn20 has mentioned that he may be willing to do this as well.

    I was curious what the league's thoughts were.

    My post from FOFC-

    "Having just missed the extension deadline due to camping the last 2 weeks of the summer, I can imagine this happens to a lot of other people. It definitely does NOT add to the realism of the game to have a bunch of rosters who are accidentally letting their star players go. I don't really understand the point of this "feature"."

    Thoughts?

    I will be happy with whatever you decide guys, however if confirmed I would suggest just one or two players per season, as realistically in the NFL there are not too many renegotiations once the seaspn starts.

    Miami Sharks (BLB)
    * BLB Champions --> 2017, 2020.

    Ohio River Sharks (OSFL)
    * OSFL Bowl CHAMPION > 2036, 2047.

      I am for it in situations such as mentioned or liked last week I had a medical emergency and was in hospital. So I am all for it as we all do have lives outside of game and things do happen.

        According to that thread on FOFC, the game does not calculate the cap hit correctly for in-season contract extensions (and I don't fully understand how the in-season cap works to begin with...cutting a player increases the current year cap??). Worried that will become another way to game the cap system.

          I'm not a huge fan of in-season renegs. I'd prefer the hard deadline, especially since you still have one more chance to franchise guys before they hit free agency.

            I'm sympathetic to situations where people get caught up in events and can't keep with with the demands of the game. Hurricane Irma screwed two drafts for me because I had to deal with real life instead of FOF. But I didn't ask for special treatment in those drafts. I just moved on and will try to catch up in the next drafts.

            The thing is -- stuff happens to all of us. My view is that we can't accommodate all the exceptions and special situations that may occur. We have to maintain the game's basic structure and rules so that we all have a level playing field on which to compete. If a GM has a situation that is truly unique, then perhaps the commish can make an exception to deal with it.

              I can see where your coming from and think I will change my thoughts. Plus it puts more demand on the commish. I vote to leave as is.
