Hope this thread is the right place:

What are you guys looking for in a slot corner?

I have a rather decent secondary in my other leage, but always get killed over the middle. I tried a lot of different defense formations and combinations of CBs/S. But maybe I'm just lacking a good slot corner?

He has to have a decent RD / END at least as he plays around 60% of the defensive snaps normally. Then you gotta look for ZD or M2M depending in how your defensive Scheme is.

It may simply be that guys are putting their best WRs in the slot and killing you that way. It's an effective way to get a good match up as most people don't have particularly good nickel CBs.

What exactly are the affinities and how are they determined? I heard that they're based off of the zodiac signs but thats about all I know.

Affinities are a big Mistery in this game, but apparently are Overpowered, they go indeed by the zodiac signs. Basically you want your team with as many affinities as possible so they can play better as a group, conflicts does the opposite.

"over-powered", thats highly subjective. They sure help, but to what degree is up for interpretation as its not exactly measurable. Many teams do just fine without them.

That's my own experience at least, after struggling with highly affinity teams for years, A.K.A. Hawaii in the Superbowl in here, or Arizona and Miami in the CFL, you see their Roster and they are nothing about extraordinary, now look their records... It's just crazy... But as you said, yes it's subjective. No studies done about it.

Affinity machines are run by highly engaged owners, otherwise they don't work. It's a *lot* of work to keep a roster filled with affinities. Committed owners tend to do better, in general.

So it may not be the affinities themselves, which are really just a buff to the dice rolls.

That's nice to have but when you're rostering lesser talent because they're an affinity then you're already putting yourself at a slight disadvantage in order to get an affinity which gives that player a slight advantage. Lots of work, little pay off, but affinities can cover up a lot of someone's blindspots by having guys play better than they would otherwise.
