  • OSFL 46 Season

I have to say it was very sad the amount of members we lost with the new version FOF8. I love seeing the 3 new members we have gained and hope we gain more. Same time though I sure hope we don't lose anyone else and hopefully we get more new members or some old ones come back. My question is this, I know this may be early to ask but who is willing to stay for next season of 46?

I will be keen to carry on.

I am quitting another league as I donīt have as much time as before, so will focus more in SGN. The OSFL brought me a lot of fun in the past, and I donīt want to lose it. Is being hard to find time to recruit new guys and with the Veterans no longer here it is difficult to maintain the energy level...

I got a hometown team in this league, I'm not going to give up before my first offseason :)

RANDOM QUESTION - I have a suspended player but cannot find any information, including in the transaction log, that tells me how long his suspension is. Is he out for the whole year?

EDIT: I found the answer - suspended players are always out for the whole season. I do wish this was listed somewhere on the player screen as it is not intuitive, and I had to go digging through the help file to find that out.

Like "next" I have the local team and judging from their history, they are very similar to the "real" team. Can u turn around the Franchise like the "real" counterpart? It would be fun to find out.

As as a counterpoint, given the turnover, would it be advisable to start from the beginning? A new league would be more attractive to new players as well. Moreover FOF8 is fresh and new and it would interesting to compare the progression of both versions of the game.
Many thoughts on this as well?

No, long time veterans deserve the right to have the history of the league intact. I wouldn't like to start over again :)

Before I joined there were 16 open spots. How many of the other 16 spots have managers that have been here since the beginning or more than 10/15 game years?
Where is the history going to go? It can still be archived and it will still have happened. I am curious to know what someone who has played in the league for 15 or more game years think. I am not sure what you mean by "right." The decision would have to be by consensus, not simple majority. The only really drawback is someone who has a winning team now and has suffered for a number of seasons. The prospect of starting the process again may be too much to bear...LOL.

If it starts again I will leave as I will find it disrespectful for the SGN community.
If you want your guys being in the HOF or setting record foght for it :)

              Feel free to vote though.

I just joined this league this yr but here's my perspective, without wanting to start a huge discussion -- I'd be strongly against a "reset", and would find it disrespectful to anyone putting some work on their team.

And I'm speaking from a 0-5 record perspective! but I do feel that I am making the right decisions to turn this team around in the next seasons, and just the prospect of a "reset" would be a huge turn off!

A reset would not upset me, but even as a noob running a team that needs a rebuild I would very much prefer to continue the league and its current history and would vote as such.

Also, as an aside, if you need to shorthand my name you can refer to me as nte. :)

I'm not sure people realize what a reset is. I've seen this suggestion in other leagues as well. A league is a combination of it's owners and it's history. We are already losing owners. A reset would mean this isn't OSFL any more. If people want a reset. start a new league. There's no benefit to using the OSFL name. That's all you would be doing. It may attract a few more new owners, but you would also lose a few. Even if OSFL shuts down, there's no point in resetting it. Once again, all you'd be doing is using the name. If a league is starting new, it should get a new name too.

I agree if it is OSFL you have to keep history, records, etc etc. I have seen people leave then come back, Shark is a example. Like Hooper said if you want a reset a person needs to just start a new league SLAM for example. I been here 7 seasons and feel like my history is a owner who bought a losing team and has more money than brains, but feels our team has improved this year.

I think we need to suspend the use of the word respect here. It is not in any way have any meaning here. The suggestion was that, a suggestion.
I also do not "want" a reset. I thought it was worth a discussion when you consider the current state of the league. How long can it last with 10+ AI owned teams? For me it is six of one or a half dozen of the other. I can gain satisfaction of turning a bad club around or I can try to create something from scratch. It makes little or no difference to me. The point of a reset isn't to attract a "few" members. If that was the case, it would not be worth considering. If only a "few" members, then it would be complete waste of time. I would hate to turn my club around only to have this league continue to be a 10-12+ AI own league. It is more of a hybrid league which would lesson any accomplishments.

Lastly, if the old guard and new guard alike are willing to stick around, then heck yeah, let's do it. Let's recruit hard to attract those new players. We certainly have a number of open slot to sell the idea that the league is filled with new players.

But wait one more thing... why not "next?" The puns are there for the taking!

                          Next?

I'm not jumping ship, I'll go down with it. Yuma has been mine since the outset and it seems like we have just hit what may be a golden era. I'm not interested in seeing it end any time soon. Dean Holmes is already my favorite player in any of my leagues, in my entire time as an FOF GM, which spans over a decade in real time.
