  • First Round Picks or Your Rookie Suprise? How are they doing

Lincoln Ramsey- 1(13) (41/41) Lincoln is playing Nickel back for the Stags. His ratings are suspect for a player making 2.6 Million out of the gate. At 5-10 182 lbs he is a small man playing in a big mans game. What he lacks in size he makes up for in heart. His play this season leads me to believe his hidden potential is much greater than the ratings show. Tied for second in the league in passes defended with 15. He also is around the ball at all times with 55 tackles and 20 assists. IN the past five games he has allowed only 7 receptions , while recording 9 passes defended.

Leon Turpin - 3(10) (44-58) Leon spent most of the season backing up under rated Billy Joe Herndon. He has been moved to WLB and will be starting this weak for the league's #1 defense. Herndon was sidelined earlier this year with a sore knee. Leon started against Anchorage and recorded 9 solo tackles and 2 assists. The coaching staff believes it is his time to shine.

We feel good about our rookie LB's. Malcolm Mitchell (14/53) and Scott Peters (27/47) round out the rookie class.

    1st Rounder

    Marvin Bullock - RDE - 1.25 - (32/45)
Bullock has good size, 6'4 280, and appears to be well on his way to being a solid overall defensive end. My scout has his potential ratings all in the 42-51 range. He isn't poor at anything, nor is he exceptional at anything. After the season was lost, he was moved to the starting lineup. In five starts, he has 13 tackles, 8 assists, 1 sack, 2 blocks, 4 hurries, and 1 QB knockdown. Nothing too special really. He will probably be my starting RDE in 2011, but on a good team, he would be better fit as a backup.

    Rookie Surprises

    D.J. Sera - FB - 7.23 - (26/44)
Sera is 2nd on my team in receptions, with 27 for 164 yards. His ratings, 8/34 run block, 39/65 pass block, 92 block strength, and 26/49 blitz pickup, show he could develop into a solid blocker. My scout also has his receiving ratings as, 24/40 drops, 30/56 route running and 51/84 third down catching, which are decent. A fullback probably has the least amount of impact on the game, but it looks like I nabbed a starter in the 7th round. That is not easy to do. He even had his best game of the season this past week, where he caught all six passes thrown to him for 67 yards.

    Grady Gardner - P - 7.31 - (44/54)
His ratings really aren't that special, and Gardner ranks 10th worst in net punt average. But, Gardner is tied for 1st in the league with 30 punts inside the 20. His directional punting rating is 56/80, so he probably will be able to keep this up. Plus, he has been in the top five for special teams player of the year, for a long time. I didn't have a punter on the roster going into the draft, and nabbing one who has performed this well, with the 2nd to last pick in the entire draft, is a good surprise.

      Rookie Surprises:

      Amos Peters (C), 4th Round Pick-North Carolina

-Heir-apparent to Enforcer veteran center, Dana Battle, Amos has gotten the starting nod the last three games because Battle has been out with a separated shoulder. Peters has stepped in and performed at a respectable level. His strength on the line lies primarily with the run game as he is likely one of the strongest players in the league and can toss men even bigger than himself. However, Peters has given up 3 sacks in just 173 plays but with Battle being a mentor, we hope Amos will learn better pass protection from one of the leagues best linemen.

        1st Rounder:
        ILB Randall Summers 53/62: 11 GP 11GS 60 Tackles 23 AST 3.5 Sacks 1 INT
He was the 2nd ILB off the board in the draft and so far he seems to have outplayed all the others. According to my scout he has gained 22 Cur rating and has lost 5 potential since I drafted him.

        Others:
2nd: C Victor Baker has 7 KRb and 0 SA in limited playing time. I traded into this pick because I considered him with my 1st round pick.

I only had 5 picks this season and have gotten contributions from 4 of them.

My 4th Rounder, a reach for a speedy back out of my Alma Mater (Eastern Michigan) has filled in nicely in the absense of Kenneth Clements for stretched of the season... and current leads my team in rushing. Needs to control the fumbles though:

Hunter was our pick for QB of the future, while he has progressed nicely in ratings, his game has been very suspect so far. What's even worse is we traded away our first round pick for this year's draft to get him. Currently, we're the worst team in the OSFL... So I basically traded away this year's #1 pick for him. He's gained 13 points in ratings, but I expected more from him on the field.

Jumbo wasn't such a suprise this year, as he was in camp, when he came in with such a high potential, especially for a 4th round pick. He's progressed nicely, (14 points I think) and his play is getting better weekly. Hopefully he'll be a part of the defense for years to come.

That's about it for Pearl Harbor this year. I'm not too happy with how the draft turned out to be honest. I expect next year with the new draft utility, I'll have much better success making picks.

You got so lucky with that Zereoue. I swear I had Jumbo higher in the queue but I guess not. Either way, good pick.

                1st Round Picks

                1-4 DE Isaac Andrews-- 29 tckls, 12 assts, 4.5 sacks, 2 blkd, 13 hurried, 5.2 PR%, 6.4 TK%.
A mild disappointment so far. Was hoping for double digit sacks. Obviously a great player. But how great?

                1-15 C J.B Mahon-- 16-37 KRBs 43.2%, 0 pncks, 3 SKA.
He has performed well. He will anchor my line for the rest of his career.

                Rookie Surprises

                3-26 S Alex Tackett-- 43 tckls, 8 assts, 1.0 sacks, 1 interception, 3 dfnsd, 19 caught, 77.7 PD%, 1 FF, 1 FR.
A great backup. Will spend a long career in Phoenix.

1.14 LT Halpern --- initial camp had him looking like a bust at 30/43 ratings but I think he's a long term creaper - has played 2/3 's of the snaps and is doing well --- 40% Bpct and only 1.2 % sack percentage

Surprise: closest thing is OG (converted from T) Van Horn ---- Over 100 snaps in R and P each so these numbers may be a good snapshot ? ----- 43 % blocking and 1.1 % sack

                  __________

probably 6 starters (LT, G, S, DE, TE, LB, and a 3 wr) out of the 8 (?) picks -- so not a bad draft ------

Andrews is going to be awesome. He's just a rookie.
