Sending exports is cool and everything but if you are not going to interact with other players other than that, what's the real difference between participating in multiplayer vs. playing by yourself at home? From what I've seen the best and most active leagues make sure that everyone brings something to the table. I just think that people will be less likely to up and leave the league so easily, when they have invested just a little bit more time or substance to the league. Just my 2 cents.
I absolutely agree with this. I understand Clay's content for the sake of content argument but I cant think of any other way to encourage people to post about their team or the league. One of the ways people learn about some of the players in the league is because of other owners posting about their team or the league.

I guess I'm failing to see a negative effect this rule would have. I'm not going to boot someone from the league immediately if they fail to post just like I dont immediately boot an owner if they missed a few sims in a row. Shoot, I was willing to keep Hollywood in the league after he missed the entire OSFL draft. I finally removed him after he missed the next 3 sims after the draft (He responded "Whatever dude your loss").

Still, I'm not going to push a rule if 90% of the league is against it. I just need suggestions on how to encourage consistent league participation.

Instead of making a rule, maybe just make a point to the owners who do not post to..."hey, maybe post a little more?"

The only problem I see if people just posting. "Jones is awesome" so meet their quota.

The people that do post usually have some quality posts.

            Yes.

            - Every owner is required to post once every two weeks in the forums about their team or the league. (While most owners meet this requirement, I noticed there were some owners who never posted at all (ex. Hollywood). This rule will encourage owners to participate more and I will be able to identify active owners easily)
No. This league doesn't move particularly fast, at two games per week. I usually have little/nothing to say during the stages that bore me. Further, if a team is eliminated from the playoffs around Week 14 or so, it's very easy to understand why the owner wouldn't have much of anything to say for a solid month or so (until the new season started).

-We have a league roster maximum in the rules but no league roster minimum. I would like the minimum to be the same as the NFL minimum (46).
I'm against putting a restriction that FOF doesn't enforce. There are times when a team can be in serious cap trouble and *need* to carry only 44 or 45 players.

              restrictions

i think we should set a minimum roster limit just for that fact... otherwise people will go ahead and pay mad amounts of money just for there starting rosters. They should get pentalized with cap hits, because they cant manage there money thats a part of the game. But at the same time i wouldnt mind if we didnt because these same people when there superstars get hurt will have no money to go out and get someone to stand in for them.

I think Ive gotten the pulse of the league on these issues:

Rule #1: (Time change for rounds 6 and 7) I will put this up for an official vote and post a thread for it later today.

Rule #2: (Mandatory posting) Will not happen. The majority of the league is against this

Rule #3: (Roster minimum of 46 players) Will be instituted at the start of the regular season. The large majority of owners who chimed in agreed with this change. During the regular season each team must have a minimum of 46 players.

I'm too late to chime in on this, but I agree with Skydog's response to all 3 points. I just went through an entire season in another league with 44 players because of cap trouble. It was a risk I took - if it backfired with injuries, I would have been screwed and would have to adjust, but I like that I was allowed to take that risk. Anyway, none of these points are huge sticking points with me.

I see your point but I (and I think most owners here) would like to make this game as realistic as possible. The NFL has a roster minimum and I see no reason why the OSFL shouldnt have one. This will force owners to manage their cap better and think harder about issuing big contracts.

Also the risk is still there and it may be greater. If you mismanage your salary cap or decided to sign big money players and sign use cheap players or rookies as your bench...you still run the risk of screwing your team over if you are hit with injuries. If you mismanage the cap you also run the risk of having to cut a valuable player in order to reach the league minimum.

Being that the new draft utility allows picks to be skipped, why can't we reduce the time of rounds 1-5 to 2 or 3 hrs?

                          1. That was before the ability to skip picks.
                          2. The sarcasm is unnecessary.

We didn't have the ability to skip picks before. I feel like the reason we wait 4 hrs for people is so that they don't inadvertently get scout picked. Now, that can be avoided with the ability to skip picks. We don't have a reason to wait as long now.

I'm not for changing the time limit of rounds 1-5. I think changing it lower than 4 hrs discourages trades and is too short of a time. Also the past two seasons we have been able to finish the draft before schedule so I dont see a reason to change that.

In Elprez's defense, lowering rounds 1-5 to under 4 hrs has never been voted on or brought to the table. I'm against it because I see no reason to do it. I'm not able to put the players on teams until the Friday after the draft so people would still have to wait to see their players ratings. Also the 4 hrs is also because it may take that long to complete a trade.
