  • Suggested New Rules

We havent changed any of the OSFL rules since we started the league and they pretty much cover everything but I had a few new rules in mind that I think will benefit the league.

    - Shorten the time limit for Rounds 6 and 7 of the draft from 2 hrs to 1 hr. (Most owners should be on auto during those rounds but this could cut a few hours off the draft.

    - Every owner is required to post once every two weeks in the forums about their team or the league. (While most owners meet this requirement, I noticed there were some owners who never posted at all (ex. Hollywood). This rule will encourage owners to participate more and I will be able to identify active owners easily)

-We have a league roster maximum in the rules but no league roster minimum. I would like the minimum to be the same as the NFL minimum (46).

    Let me know your thoughts.

#1 - Eh. Everyone complains about the draft, and that includes me. But I really don't think we need to speed it up too much. The 6th and 7th rounds, this year, were completed in one day right?

#2 - Ideally I would love it if every owner posted, and those who do post, post more. But I think making it a requirement is kinda iffy.

    #3 - I like the idea.

I think all three of those are great. I would even propose doing the one hour limit starting as early as Round 4, but I know that might be a little crazy.

Roster wise I think our rules should mirror the NFL, where it's reasonable at least.

        1. Aaron, we've already talked about how I feel about it. I think it shouldn't be a problem to lower the time limits late in the draft. There is no reason your utility shouldn't be in use this late in the draft.

        2. I do believe posting should be mandatory. The reason some leagues are lively and some are not is the interaction between owners. Without posting the league becomes stagnant, which is honestly why I posted so much last year.

        3. I also like the idea.

          I say this every year...

The OSFL Draft, especially with a new and improved utility on the way, is one of the funnest parts of the season. Why are we always trying to rush it?

Its not rushing it....its not wasting time. The amount of draft chatter and activity drops significantly in rounds 6 and 7. Most teams are on auto in those rounds but there are always a few owners who fail to put their teams on auto and prolong the draft for no reason. I love the draft but I primarily love the first 4 rounds. Thats where most of the acticity, trades and draft discussion occurs.

The new utility is going to kick all kinds of ass. Another league I play in is using it... it is amazing!

Otherwise, I have no real thought on rule #2.

              Rule #3 I'm all for.

Its not the utility. Its the fact that people waste time by not turning on their utility when the reason we have it the utility is to make drafting easier. No one is rushing anything, its just trimming the fat. Load and use the utility, that's all I'm saying.

                        1. I thought the draft went well this year. The 6th and 7th round didn't seem to take long at all. Why fix it, if it aint broke?

                        2. Strongly disagree with requiring people to post. Not everyone posts but that doesn't mean they're not a good active owner.

                        3. Good idea. No reason each team shouldnt field a full squad.

                          1. I am fine with whatever time limits the group wants.

                          2. This one I don't know about. Owners need to respond to trade proposals, exporting, drafting. But I don't want to scare people away who would be good just because they aren't into posting on message boards as frequently as others. Also, lately it seems we have always been able to find a new owner rather quickly, but the more requirements that we add the harder it might become. This one would have to be voted on for sure I think.

                          3. Yes, a roster minimum would be good.

                            #1 - I'm all for.

#2 - Don't like it. Don't think this is necessary as long as an owner is making their exports I think that is all that matters.

                            #3 - I like this idea.
