  • Amendment to Drafting Procedures Discussion

I think we should change our current procedure on what to do when a team needs to be auto-picked. Currently, we draft the highest rated player at the top team need. Until tonight, with Denver, we have never had any problem with the current setting. But now, when his biggest need is a starting FB, I think it needs to be changed.

I personally think we should change it to:
-Draft the highest adjusted rated player at a position of need
-Only draft when the need is "starting" not "backup"....? maybe?

    What do you guys think?

I don't think the needs list is accurate enough for us to use the starting and backup in our determinations. For example, it says Denver needs a backup OLB when they only have two on the roster, one of which is rated in the 20's. I would make it:

    - Draft the highest adj rated player at a position of need that hasn't already been drafted.
    - If all need positions have been drafted, start over again.
    - If a team misses 2 (or maybe 3) picks, they will be auto drafted for the rest of the draft.

I don't think that changing the rules in the middle of a draft is the right thing to do. I had 2 players put on my team in past drafts because I missed my alotted time and had them picked for me. Everyone knows we are drafting, he should have set his queue.

Have we auto picked for anybody (other than St Paul) in this draft yet?

What if we had a rule next season that every owner was required to send a Private Message to the Commish with their Top 3 NEEDS going into the draft. Obviously, draft strategies change as a draft roles out... but this list is nothing but a safety net. The in-game is screwy... this gives people a chance to pick their own safety net.

If someone hits Time Limit... they auto pick the highest rated (by the default rating) at the highest position of need submitted that hasn't been drafted by said team.

Did that make sense? I'm hopped up on allergy meds.

That's not a bad idea at all, Clay.

That's a great idea... and something I was thinking of adding to the discussion but I couldn't put it into words as good as you did.

I think it should be something mandatory as well. If you don't pick live, or have your list set. We should go by the three positions the owners decide are their biggest need.

The reason why I draft the biggest need according to the game is as a punishment for missing your pick. I know we have lives but setting your preference list and putting it on auto isnt difficult. Imo, if someone cares enough to bitch about getting a FB or a player they didnt want....they should have cared enough to set their list or pm the commish a list of players they were interested in.

If we fill our queue but don't set it to auto, can you commish's still see it and would you still draft according to it?
