  • 1st Annual Renegade 18 (Non-GM Nominated) Awards Part II.

Here's the 2nd installment of the 1st Annual Renegade 18(Non-GM Nominated) Awards.

2009 Z. Letter Award, "The ATM Award"
-This award is given to the quarterback with the highest redzone completion percentage.

    (6-10)
Lake County Extreme, Nick Pipkin(QB), 36/43-86.7% in the redzone.

-Don't look now but we have another quarterback who has arrived in the league. Most fans seem to forget that Pipkin is only 25 and has just begun to show what he can do. Lake County is solid at quarterback as long as they can afford this fan favorite.

2009 A. Cid Award, "The Neon D Award"
-This award is given to the defensive player with the most interception return yardage.

    (4-12) Phoenix Riders,
    Archie Mathews(FS)-20 Def

-Playing Denver and Utah didn't help the Riders much this year, however, Mathews played well individually, posting an impressive 87.2 PD% in over 500 pass plays.

2009 E. Fan Award, "The 8th Wonder Award"
-this is given to the offensive lineman who had the most pass plays without a sack.

    (6-10) Motor City Mechanics,
    Kelvin Stone(C)-461 PPLY/0 SA

-Motor City only allowed 23 sacks this year and a lot of the credit can be attributed to this 12th year veteran's leadership on the line. After notching 12 pancakes and just one sack in the league's first season, Stone regressed a bit in 2007 and 2008, allowing 6 and 8 sacks per season, respectively.

    2009 C. Shiver Award, "Berry/Presley Award"
-this is given to the running back with the lowest carry/fumble ratio.

(12-4) North Liberty Enforcers, Conrad “The Illini” Bronson-316 carries and 1 fumble

-A huge part of the Enforcers' success rests on the shoulders of this young running back. As the 2008 ROY winner, Bronson was labeled a “problem” before entering the league. However, Bronson has done well in not carrying the label into the league and has become one of the league's most consistent rushing threats.

    2009 J. Zicc, "Redwood Award"
-This award is given to the lineman with the most blocked passes.

(14-2) Morgantown Maniacs, Wesley Giles(DE): 10 blocked passes

-Giles put up monster numbers in 2009, solidifying himself as one of the premier pass rushers in the league. Giles was in the top ten in blocks(1st), hurries(T-6th), QB knockdowns(2nd). With a few more sacks, Giles would likely be a defense player of the year candidate.
