I wasn't around to get my gameplanning in like I had hoped, and it showed in the game. We didn't play well, never got anything going offensively. We also displayed some absolutely horrendous playcalling down the stretch when we had a chance to steal a victory and decided to throw it away with terrible strategy.

Our defense was horrendous but we pulled it out. I made some depth chart changes that almost cost me the game. Won't do that again. GG, Dakota.

Not if I don't do something about this struggling pass defense. We've been sliced and diced a lot lately and I can't seem to figure out why yet. Well, this last game I do know why but I've got a bye week, and hopefully we can turn the pressure back up and ready ourselves for the grind ahead. Especially that week 10 thing....

Won this week 10-9 in my second nail bitter in a row. Last year, I was the team losing these close ones, but this year something is different. The win did come at a cost as I lost starting RT Grant Weber for four weeks to a sprained knee. I have the bye this week, and it will be much needed as I have two other players a little banged up and could use a week off.

After the bye the Phantoms travel to (2-4) Phoenix, then host (2-3) Los Almos, and then (1-4) Washington, before my week 11 showdown with (4-2) divisional foe Anchorage. I will probably need to be at least 6-3 going into that game, maybe even need to be 7-2. After these next three games, my schedules gets really hard, having to face (5-1) North Liberty and (4-1) St. Paul.

It is great to see some Portland players getting defensive player recognition. Winston Chernetsky switched from a 4-3 SLB to a 3-4 WLB and has flourished. His career highs are 89 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 blocks, 2 hurries, and 6 QB knockdowns. This year, in the new system, he has 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 2 blocks, 6 hurries, and 5 QB knockdowns. Starting FS Lenny Shaye is also having a great year. He has caused 5 turnovers in six games, a key to our defense.

I was really surprised. I was looking at this weeks schedule, and figured that we would both lose. We play each other weeks 11 and 17. That finale could be a big one if we both keep it up.

That sucks you didn't get your gameplan in....well, for you! I didn't expect to win this game, but I figured it would be really close. You need to replace that holder...did you see that he screwed up on two field goal attempts?! GG man.

Back to back pathetic efforts from the Mechanics. We're going back to the drawing board in a must win division game this coming week. Weak. Bad, bad football. Our offense should be so much better than this.

I had no clue that could actually happen in this game... always kind of figured the kick holding and long snapping ratings were worthless. Good to know.

Just got done watching the game on Solevision. A very surprising win over Kalispel. Honestly didn't think we had a chance. One of those games where almost everything that could go right for us, went right, and almost everything that could go wrong for them, went wrong. Our offense came out firing on all cylinders, the defense came up with some turnovers early and we put the Stags in a position where they were going to have to pass the ball to beat us. Which was good, because they were gouging us for over 6 yards a carry on the ground.

One thing I noticed about this week's game. Fullback Troy Boyer got his first carry of the year, and only the second of his career. But Kalispel must have paying close attention to our week 17 game in Phoenix last year, because their defense seemed very familiar with that play.
