  • Some info probably worth reading on understanding young players.

In response to a question here, I ended up posting a rather detailed thread at FOFC about some of the mechanics of player development in FOF. This should help in understand what's about to happen to many draftees when training camp rolls around. ;)

    Unmasking 101

Very useful stuff. Hopefully Cote doesn't go down after camp.

My question is, if booms/busts are "very rare" how much of a factor should volatility be in drafting, if at all?

I can't say with certainty in 6.1. I will say that in 6.0e, I completely ignored it. I found other factors (combines/interviews/bars/grades) to be much more important.

        Hey Skydog,

Even after signing I've got a couple players that have increased in potential. Is that a case of unmasking?

Great, all my rookies ratings dropped during training camp. My 6th round pick went from 16/51 to 8/27.
