I think if you did upgrade and exported you'll be ok.

If you are looking to renegotiate the contracts of some of your existing players during the offseason, dont upgrade.

If you arent going to renegotiate and you want to get some of the benefits of the upgrade then its OK to upgrade.

The entire league will be upgrading around Training camp so in a few weeks this wont matter.

so that I understand, if I never upgraded the patch, i'm fine, right? I tried installing it and got a corrupt file error last nite.

Your update was probably fine.... The corrupt file error usually occurs if you try to open the game with a desktop shortcut from the old version. Simply delete the shortcut and make a new one and everything will work fine.
