My offensive coordinator seemed to become married to throwing the ball 50 yards downfield on every play and Douglas completed about 30% of his passes and threw 3 interceptions. We turned over the ball 4 times and Camden didn't turn it over until the end of the game, when Camden fumbled a punt in their own territory leading to our game-winning field goal.
The only players who had reason to be proud in this game were on the defenses.
Surprisingly, this turned into our second defensive battle in a row. It's surprising because our defense had been pretty terrible during our losing streak, but we came away with wins these last two weeks because of our defense. Cannida pulled in his 7th INT of the year and ran it back for a TD. Meanwhile, we were able to avoid turning the ball over at all which was nice given Ohio's league leading +18 TO margin. I was also surprised to learn that our team is leading the league by only allowing 28.8% of third downs to be converted.
A wanted to give some recognition to Donny Bronson. The San Francisco rookie has compiled a 89 pass defensed percentage so far this year. That's good enough to be tied with Cannida for the league best among starting CBs. That's a heck of a feat for a rookie, especially one that fell to the middle of the first round.
We won that one, it not much of a contest due to Mayes having a great game. But turn over could have come and bite us : Throwing 3 picks, we forced 4 fumbles and recovered none
This was a pretty even game with a couple of real turning points at the end of each half. After giving up a huge kickoff return, we managed a pick six at the end of the first half when it looked like you would take the lead into the interval.
And midway through the fourth, down by 9, you have a touchdown chalked off then we manage to turn it over on a fumble a few plays later.
6-6 and tied for division lead in this tough AFC North
