  • TC - Good or Bad?

I'm making this because I'm going to talk about the whole team, not just my draft.

    Overall, I see two things:

    1) My defense fell apart. I made a lot of defensive picks in the draft. Doesn't really matter.
    2) My offensive line and RB had AMAZING success.

In TC, I put a lot of time into defense, with all the rookies I got. And I don't put a lot of time into running, generally. Whatever the standard is, I leave it.

I'm guessing part of it has to be the coaching staff:

Head Coach: Specialty: Offensive Linemen. Very good player development, Poor Young Talent development, very good scouting, good interviewing
OC: Specialty: Offensive Linemen (haha, I'm seeing a trend). Poor Player development, TERRIBLE with young talent. Great scouting and very good Interviewing.
DC: Specialty: OFFENSIVE LINEMEN!!! (Thanks AI!!! have I ever mentioned how bad the AI is, and how I hate that it chooses my staff?) Good player development, terrible with young talent...

You can see why my offensive line became great, and my defense sucks. No one to coach them, really. My assistant coach is a Secondary guy, but not much in the development department.

Just an FYI, I don't like it at all. You have zero control, really, and it really sucks.

There is a utility in the other leagues where you can almost pick your staff...it's wonderful. The shot in the dark way that FOF has it set up without that utility is a joke, unless you do it somehow online which would take days.

Can you post the league and the utility? Maybe we can use it here?

I had a pretty bad TC. I had one of my offensive lineman, who I was thinking would be my weakest starter jump up 10 points. Other than that just about everybody went down. I was starting to think I'd actually have a decent RB for the first time with this team in second year player Nicholas Hueffed. Coming off of his ROY campaign he went -10/-11. At the same time, my veteran backup Terry Ness went -12/-12. I went from having two guys that I felt could legitimately be starters to having a 34/36 as my best rated RB. Hopefully the advances on the O-line will be enough to keep the running game going. I am yet to figure out how to get a decent RB out of the draft. Hueffed may be my second second round RB in a row that doesn't resign after his rookie contract.

On the defensive side of the ball we didn't see much movement. A couple of older guys dropped a couple points, a couple of the younger guys gained a couple points. Nothing too crazy or unforeseen either way.

I think he's talking about Ben's utility, which will only work with leagues that use Ben's website tools. I'm not sure why, but it's been said that this league can't use Ben's website tools. I could be mistaken on all of that, but that's how I understand things.

I both understand and don't understand Ben and the tools. He must put a lot of work in on them thus wanting only his league or leagues he chooses to be able to use them. However also if I was smart enough to code I'd feel awesome knowing everyone was using the things I created. Then again I might want to make little money for my work too. So I understand either way of looking at it or for anybody that is code smart.

Ben seems pretty generous with the work he puts in. I'm guessing that there's a time factor that goes into each league that's running his tools, and he probably has to limit the number of leagues that he can work with. Running FOFC, the leagues he runs, participating in other leagues, and supporting the leagues running his tools all adds up to being pretty time consuming. I can't blame the guy for not wanting to put more time into leagues that he's not a part of. I haven't talked to the guy about this, so this is just a guess, but Ben doesn't come across as the type of person that holds things back just to do it.

Let me preface this post with some facts. I don't like Ben. I think he's arrogant and egotistical.

That being said, I agree he is generous with his work. BUT, to use his tools you need to use all his tools as it all connects together. For some leagues, that's just too much. There are also some other things on Ben's end that require some things from the league to use the whole kit and kaboodle.

Overall, I would like to use this, even if it is a product of Ben's. We need something to fix the system. It's just an awful, terrible system. But it's a lot more complex than saying to Ben, "We'd like to use your stuff in OSFL."
