  • Aaron's Top 5 OSFL QB's

This is a new series that I'm starting to help some of the new guys recognize the top players in the league. It's my opinion based on stats, awards, winning percentage and championships. I'll have the top 5 Rb's sometime this week.

    1. Damon Bishop, Las Vegas Outlaws- His stats aren’t as flashy as Bishop. He doesn’t have as many awards as Cothran or Cowell. So why is he #1? He wins games. Bishop has the same record as Lincoln (28-7) but he has shown that he can win the big game and has done it with less talent than Lincoln. Lincoln has stars like Emmanuel Jamison and J.R. Sierra to help carry the offense. Bishop has two division titles and an OSFL Championship and he did it without a consistent rushing attack.

    2. Corey Lincoln, Columbus Catfish- Take a look at the stats. 22 players of the game awards, 6 player of the week awards, 2006 1st Team Quarterback, #1 all time in QB rating, Passing Yds and Passing TD’s. So why isn’t he #1? Because he hasn’t won a championship. Two straight flameouts in the Conference Championship game with a combined QB rating around 70. 2008 could be the year he gets the monkey off of his back and moves into the #1 position.

    3. Martin Cothran, Camden Cutters- Here is your 2007 All-League 1st Team Quarterback. 2007 was his breakout year. The cutters improved from an 8-8 team to division champs. Looking at his stats he’s been extremely consistent the last 2 seasons with a QB rating over 90 and 20+ TDs each season. The big question going into this season is will he even be the Cutters QB next season. He currently is a unrestricted FA and he would be one of the most wanted FA on the market.

    4. Dusty Cowell, Memphis Admirals- Overshadowed by his 2007 MVP RB, Kenyon Heflin, many are surprised how good Cowell is when they face the Admirals. Cowell was the 2nd team All League QB in 2007 and if he can stay healthy, the Admirals can make a championship run. Another plus is Cowell is young and hasn’t reached his full potential.

    5. Dusty Galloway- St. Paul Bandits- Championship Game MVP and arguably the most popular person in Minnesota. His 2007 numbers were impressive and if it wasn’t for the great years Cowell, Lincoln and Cothran had he would have been on the All League team. 2008 will be a big year for him. Many are saying that his championship run was a fluke and that he will be a one year wonder. Let’s see if he can prove the critics wrong.

Honorable Mention: Carl Reese- Gainesville, Floyd Cosby- Morgantown, Lucky Lochtenfield- Utah, Jumbo Clements-Yuma

Yup, he just posted it to the frontpage as well. I'm going to upgrade the news system once we go live on the new site. This one is tedious.
