  • League Changes (Hiatus Over!)

    Hello all,

As most of you know Skerik was considering stepping down as commissioner at the end of this season. The bad news is he decided to resign as comissioner however, the good news is he is going to remain the owner of the Camden Cutters. I would like to thank Skerik for his great work over the past year and getting this league off the ground.

As of today, I'm stepping in as commissioner of the OSFL. I will handle the schedule and all OSFL sims. I will also contribute regular articles to the website. Camulos (Andrew) will continue to work on the OSFL website.

Currently, we have 3 open teams in the OSFL: Los Alamos, Phoenix and San Francisco. I have exhausted the waiting list and have tried to solicit owners through posts at FOF Central and OS. We have one invite out to Hit Doctor at OS and I hope that he will join within the next few days. I'm also hoping that I can convince either/both Wessinmouse or Hoosier to remain in the OSFL at least until the end of the offseason. According to people familiar with the game the CPU doesnt do a great job handling the offseason and I would hate to have any teams under CPU control during the off season. If anyone knows of someone who is interested in joing a league, please forward me their contact info or have them contact me by pm.

Tonight, I will run the end of season sim so that people can see who won the season awards and take a final look at last year's statistics. If we are able to fill the open three spots by Sunday, I will run the first sim of the offseason on Sunday. I will not change the schedule implemented by Skerik. All sims will be run on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 9pm EST.

Finally, I would like to welcome Mistwood into the league. He is taking over S. Maryland and I'm sure he will do a great job.

Thanks to Skerik for all his hard work in getting this league off the ground. I know Aaron will do a great job as his replacement.

I'd like to reiterate my belief that the success of an online league depends on the involvement of the owners. It's on us to help bring this league to the next level.

      Good luck, Aaron.

I'm not exactly a vet -- but if we must --- let's keep the teams under commish control rather than CPU so they don't do the boneheaded mistakes during the offseason

Thanks Hoosier. I really appreciate it. Hopefully by the end of the day we will only have one position to fill.

Good point. I would like some of the vets to chime in on this. I feel like it would be a conflict of interest if I made decisions for another team in the league since I own Gainesville. Any thoughts?

                    1. I think it would best to wait to get the GM's.

                    2. Aholbert, it may also be in the league's best interest if you made the decision. Who cares if you own Gainsville, we need a commish that's will RULE like Stalin.

There is somewhat of a conflict of interests, but I think most will trust you to run that team from their perspective. It's certainly a better option than taking more time off if we can't find owners quickly.

In other leagues I'm in, in case of a vacancy like this, when it comes to drafting, a panel of owners collectively agree on the player best for the team.

LOL...I'm going to change my username to Stalin. Here is what I will do:

If we have more than one open team before Sunday, I will postpone the first sim and push the schedule back.

If we only have one open team, then I will run the team until I can find someone to step in. I dont want to hold back the league and kill momentum because we cant fill one team when we have 29 other owners still active.

Hopefully I can convince Wessinmouse to come back and Hit Doctor will take over San Fran.

                            Hoosier,

What do they do regarding FA's?

                              The ai handles it, unfortunately.
